And welcome back to what happened to us as our release cadence has come but maybe we'll get to done this week or it'll pop up at the beginning of next week So release cadence I like that, you know, we're all over the map now like life has taken over and the pods Simplicity of recorded Tuesday released Thursday is no longer the system that we have No, my life is life and then we work around it. So sorry for the inconvenience everyone all of our listeners. So We do what we do yeah, and I've been embracing the the tribe life this week, which is yeah What happens to over there on Sunday halfway through the World Cup final which is awesome. Oh Like lights started to flicker.
Okay, and like the dryer stops being hot in the fridge like we're still running But stuff in the fridge was starting to get condensation on it, which is when it starts to you know one and And Oven didn't work so like all this stuff started going off larts start light started flickering and I thought it was like a brown out because Things weren't shutting off completely right. I don't know if you guys have brown I don't remember having grounds in California. We had rolling blackouts, but brownouts are kind of yeah brownouts are strange And at the basically they limit the power so everything you have just starts partially working Right we went went out and then it just went out completely So this was so I miss the second half of the game which was what actually the game was pretty dull to be honest with you. Oh Okay, I'm sorry something so my body so the game was well the game was yeah It had its moments in the second half though.
Yeah, yeah, I mean it's more exciting than the first half I was you know, I was pumped for it anyway, so like before going back so yeah, yeah, so we lost power and The electrician was able to come first thing money morning and instead of a brown out It turned out we had the breakers switch for the house was broken. Oh, it's not it's ceased to work Like luckily like because we thought of the brown out we called the electric company Amarin Mmm out here and they came the same day on a Sunday which was awesome and they were like nope No brown out looks like you got a faulty fuse and then we got electrician and the guy was like I can have that part too by Thursday Oh, so we'll have an head power for four days So luckily not unbearably hot though. It wasn't the 90s the first couple days, but humidity wasn't so bad Okay, but you know didn't have TV haven't had refrigerated food well do now because it's sorry Everything was back on last night, but like no refrigerated food. No way to cook food.
No internet. No TV I went four days this way. That's the worst to be honest with you. I kind of liked it I kind of liked it.
I mean I could obviously still use my phone and we have a separate unit in the basement It's like its own one-bedroom apartment. It's on a different breaker, right? So the power down there was working, but there's just nothing down there There's no furniture. There's no internet.
There's no TV So I could go down there to charge things But not there's nothing else I could do it so I basically had two laptops down there charging full time So I could bring them up to power my phone, but anyway Yeah, so you know hashtag trad life. I could totally be like one of the organ trail pioneers, right? Because you know I went a whole in the year of our Lord 2026 I went a week without internet TV and Refrigerated foods, so I feel like I make that I can make that you can go you can go. I think so yeah I mean at this point, you know, you eat some lettuce and you're gonna be on the organ trail time of disinterior Yeah, you have died of dysentery.
I don't remember we talked about talk about last week We did not we mentioned Taco Bell. Yes, because you're like Sam's favorite and then it was like Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it is becoming more clear my what was last week my conspiracy theory is I've now seen more people Talk about especially on reddit because you know reddit is where you go for all good ideas and not at all people yelling at each other But I did see somebody being like I the fact that everybody's going all in on Taco Bell instead of the supplier of the lettuce that For some reason last week I said Sullivan's it's Taylor Taylor's arms The fact that it's that it's like all the focus on Taco Bell not on Taylor I think is like a essentially a government cover up That they are they which would that surprise you well basically You know basically that they're they're trying to make they don't want Taylor to look bad I don't know if they just paid off Trump or if it's just in general they want to they just want somebody to blame so they're going to Taco Bell Do you want some answers to that question? Sure. Okay, so technically Taylor's did spend quite a bit of money on the Trump inauguration and funding the You know everything else like that So yes, they put tens of millions of dollars into the accounts of the Trump Organization or whatever the Trump pack is and then they also hired a former a Member of the staff I forget who it is right now, but they put him as CEO and they did pay money to kind of like Let the things that happen not be on them.
So the FDA did apologize to Taylor brand or whatever it's called Taylor farms for their this is way back when when it first came out They're like oh, we're sorry We don't have enough people to say here was a false positive and now obviously it's not quite false positive It's just a thing because they used us poopy water allegedly to it's also the third time that Taylor has been caught in a Scandal with I don't know if it was always the same parasite But it was like the third time they've had recall issues with their with their product But yeah Taco Bell is just getting the brunt of it even though it was only in four states really I mean there were cases all over the country, but the main where five states it was like right in the middle It was like Michigan. I want to say Michigan was constant Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia somewhere in that Indiana Maybe not maybe not was you know, it's that range like Midwest Northern Midwest So it wasn't even all over the place and people you just use your brain. Taco Bell doesn't grow their own lettuce No, it'd be stupid. Well, let's be honest Nate when you say don't be stupid That is a very hard thing for a majority The general public will hear the Taco Bell and will not hear the Taylor part even though Taylor supplies led us to Separated well the problem is they sell their own lettuce in the store like the prepackaged job like salad lettuce Well, it's not just it's out in California now as well.
So it's not just You know, it's not regionalized anymore. It is national. It's everywhere. Okay, so that's the thing is like we're no longer eating Vegetables for this in the household.
Yeah, that's the correct thing Yeah, yeah, I mean that works fine with some greens like spinach Yeah, but we did last week we talked about last week You know really cooking your lettuce the all the rare exception to cook lettuce is the old Jack in the box taco, which If I have not had one in years I really I feel like I'm missing out but the old Jack in the box taco which to me is one of the single greatest best food items ever created But they you know, they deep fry they deep fry the taco which is unusual in itself But they deep fry it with the cheese sauce and lettuce like inside it So it kind of makes a weird pocket inside the shell So it's like half crunchy and half not but the lettuce inside is technically cooked so it's like It's different. It's not crunchy. But other than that how often you cooking lettuce never you cook cat like what's the point cooking lettuce at this point? So I assume that they tailor has more products than just lettuce like I know Taco Bell also recalled their they also stuff They removed from their shelves their cilantro their onions their walk.
So I'm guessing Taylor probably supply all that the thing is though Is if we're sorry if we're gonna start getting into like litigation lawsuits territory The Trump administration the FDA all the things under the Trump administration are wildly incompetent all of their lawyers are wildly incompetent But they've also pulled back that you can no longer sue for certain things like that's why the pesticides are forever pesticides are back at a level But because the Supreme Court has ruled that you cannot sue a company that does pesticides if for the side effects that it causes So there there's three new pesticides that are being used that are forever chemicals and will be in the food that we are eating They you know, they know what the side effects are they don't care because they are no longer able to be sued for it So there's that fun aspect of things. I feel like it's one of the but yeah, so like but I would I would if we're going to a court battle If one is allowed, I would put my money So Taco Bell's owned by Young Brands like you know the company that owns I believe it's still Pepsi But I could be wrong, but they don't they own a number of restaurants and companies I believe it's like Pepsi KFC they own a ton so I would trust their lawyers over the incompetent ones currently right in the government But I will say this for people that it might have scared away from Taco Bell This is how I feel about like airlines when people after you know, so like after an airline crash people like oh my god I'm not flying that airline and it's like well actually that airline is probably the most safe airline currently if they just had a crash because they're Redoing all of their safety precautions same thing with a place like Taco Bell that acknowledged the problem pulled all the products I wouldn't trust them more than I trust anywhere else. It is not saying whether lettuce is coming from you know So I have no I would go I would have zero issue going to Taco Bell right now You know so whatever I don't know But My brain had a thought and then I just kind of went elsewhere. Yeah I was like I was looking up the Taylor Farms guy to be like oh who is the one like Bruce Taylor is the CEO But he's been that for a while Taylor Swift I just assumed that Taylor farms Yes, unfortunately not Taylor Swift even though I don't think she cares about the people either No, I was looking up the information because I was like I knew we talk about this again because it's still ongoing And it's not good as a slow down any If there have been any deaths like another word there were like three deaths Yeah, I'm sure that numbers going up But there were like thousands of cases but very few deaths but there were a few yes Because this can't it's like the warnings that you know drugs give you like you can't get diarrhea from this and it can't kill you It's the odds are small, but it will because it dehydrates you to death is that you?
Oh, yeah sure What was yeah if you're like older immune compromised having a stomach bug is yeah could kill you absolutely Dang it Now I've done it. Yeah, well we were talking about People as we were talking about but before that yeah, okay. Yeah brain brain brains are good today brain's fine. Yeah, so so that's that's fun We were talking about the world cup at one point time and then your power went out then yeah, yeah world cups I missed the second half which is bummer, but I was routine us really There are races no there's no races, but no that that yeah Argentina is not that the problem with rooting for Argentina is I love messy And the rest of the team are just shit heads.
Yeah, well they prove that and yeah Yeah, it was funny. I was watching some things about like like Maradona and Paley talking about messy But they're like the one thing that he has a problem of is he has zero personality Which I'm like oh yeah, he is not entertained as a person. He's not like this guy who's gonna he's not fun He's just who he is like underwater. Yes, but the watch but he's not No, no, but was it I mean Paley and Maradona characters.
Oh, okay, Maradona especially. Yes. I don't know It has can you name more of a character than a Maradona in soccer? I don't know there was that there's plenty legendary I think he was a German goalie like back when the when it was still ready Could have been like insane like he was one of the best keepers of all time But he was absolutely insane like the way he'd yell at himself and yell at players and like try to pick fights on the field He was a character for sure You know, I mean, yeah, he's yeah, I mean messy's boring, but he's also awesome, you know not hell I mean show hey, oh, Tony's not terribly I mean though language language barriers are always a thing like where you could say like oh, you know You don't really know messy's personality because he doesn't really speak English and show hey's kind of the same But she'll hey, but their talent alone is flashy and fun But I don't know if I'd say their personalities are all that interesting right look at my trout My trout is like it was a generate I mean, he's not anymore just because the injuries yeah generational baseball player the baseball did not know what to how to market Because he had no personality like he didn't even when he did the commercials for like was he subway?
He was on the sandwich place. I think it's subway Like very little personality. Well, that's the whole thing. It's like you what's okay with the color maga Barbie the WNBA Player to is you cutting him yes cutting him who got her own shoe now.
She's got a shoe line with Nike. I believe She yeah, she's not a great player, but she's personality. No, that's the thing is it so if you don't So she she's been known for a while because she's very outspoken. She has a podcast which you know what kind of assholes have podcast These I don't know they let any assholes happen, but she she you know, she's attractive She attractive white straight woman which in the NBA that there's a certain Like that though there's a certain fan base that wouldn't pay attention otherwise.
I guess you could say Because you know the NBA is mostly women of color very high percentage of gay women of color So yeah, so an attractive blonde straight woman is gonna get some attention among the racist But yeah, so she and she's very outspoken and she she got mean very she basically pointing the pointing like of her pointing I don't even remember the context within the game, but if you've seen like Sophie Cunningham pointing mean She's basically become very known for that Yeah, she she kind of I think was a step into she knows what she was doing. Yes She was the enforcer for Caitlin Clark while she was with the fever. Yeah, that's the thing Yeah, so she's she's I mean she still is with the fever I don't know like probably but so she she has she kind of has been in the news especially like the last two days because she sort of went on a Transphobic rans the whole it's the whole protector little girls thing in sports when it's that's they're just making up issues that aren't issues Like they're like they're like they're like they're not a response to that by the way just so what's that mega Rapino had a nice response to that I said my grandpa you know is a very your sponsor everything. Yeah, but yeah So that's it so yeah She was doing the protector little girls in sports and it's like okay You're creating a problem that doesn't exist like the number of trans athletes in women's sports is like double digits in the country It's under on like it's not it's there whenever other thing Magga just brings up the transphobic shit the women and girls in sports Are trans men with a trans women in sports?
They bring it up when everything else they're doing is going to shit like wars in Iran And the government you know the economy and gas they just go back to the old classics of transphobia But yeah, no you if you see how how much this woman is is shown in the media is shown all over social media so be coming in You'd think she was like a great player. She is not she is at best a mediocre basketball player single-digit averages and everything like doesn't not doesn't score You know she's mediocre at best if she were not like I said an attractive woman who's everywhere because of her podcast and everything You would not know in you would not have ever heard of her exactly so now She's so but you know what isn't that the maga way the the the mediocre athletes kind of finding the you know They they they realize where they can like the Riley gains of the world They see the grift they see the they see the reaction they get to the grift and they're like, okay Well, we'll leave I basically and I get from her point of view So we kind of ham being like nobody else would pay attention to me in this league if I didn't set myself out By just going full magga and sometimes that works in the long run for them. It will never rarely does it work in the long run You there's so many so many cases of like the blonde magga women that like or magga men But but the women are very not notable because they just they burn hot and disappear. Yeah, like you're I saw Tammy Lauren Reference recently.
Oh, okay. I damn that's a name. I hadn't heard a while, but she's still out there She's not grifting like she used to but she is Gifting like she's trying but she's not as the lore of Tammy Lauren is somewhat It gets then you get replaced by their dime it doesn't it's like the who's the gun girl who pooped herself Was it something then it I know yeah, yeah the Ken's day girl. Yes who who yeah made a name for herself They all have like a thing like Riley gains is the trans athletes the Caitlin Bennett you're right.
Yeah, okay Her whole thing was guns rights. Yeah, like you know, you pray the whole you know You can take you'll have to pry this gun out of my dead cold fingers the old child has to mind And so she her whole thing was just like open carry like she'd go to places with a with a hunting rifle strapped over her shoulder They are getting when she was a graduation. What was that? It was an AR 15 when she yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah, so she's just she's doing the whole I'm flaunting it because it's a second amendment But the thing that she did so it but her initial fight was that she was a Kent State student So she was upset about the gun the the banning of guns banning on guns and if you know history Just Google Kent State shooting and there's a reason Kent State blocks bands firearms on their campus Yeah, so that is so you know, she just went to get attention Yeah, they're rumored was it ever proven or was it a rumor that yeah that basically people that went to school with her I don't remember if it was high school or college where she was at like a party and she shit herself party I just can't remember this high school or college.
It was college, but yeah, she was all over the place with her carrying her gun everywhere and then she disappeared It's yeah, you can you just go down the line. It's like it's like a whackable as soon as one disappears and new one comes up Erica Kirk was jumped in on the grip. Oh just because of her husband But even she is sort of falling back like she she was getting attention and sympathy right after Charlie Kirk's death And then the recordings popped out and realized it was just her drifting the grip to her husband. Yeah, yeah Yeah, exactly.
So but I feel like her star isn't quite as funny as my Chinese right the whole thing is falling apart Turning point is like not what turning point was I guess in a way or exactly what it is technically because I don't know what it is to be honest I know what it is, but I don't know there was their whole point was like indoctrinating college kids. Yeah, that's pretty much what it Was like a young Republican college that the Charlie Kirk in your college. Yeah, but that was his whole thing He's like I'm smarter than all these college students and you know as you get older you learn more obviously But and you're able to because he's he does the debate system where he's like you have to prove me wrong or you have to show me He's yeah, the whole debate me debate me because I'm like he's he had the path of like Oh, I can just kind of like word in a way if you don't have all the facts in front of you He's like show me like you you have to prove it to me like there's I'm still right no matter what you have to say until you can prove me wrong and it's a Works in the sense of like what we do what you and I do in this is like You know, I don't debate anything We just talk about the bullshit that is and if we had more energy to it We do like live recordings and things like that and you know put ourselves on YouTube being like what is wrong with the young people today? Because that's what's happened to us.
It's like what's about the joke about what this show was initially was to be like What is happening to us like as a society because we're falling down? I didn't think it would ever get to where we're at now We started this in like 18 2018. I'm almost positive as 18 because right around the last world cup or that's our two Yeah, um, got to have eight years. So that was like middle of the first Trump right term which looking back It's so like it's crazy as he was during the first term There's still were guardrails and he's still like even his chief of staff his the joint chiefs like those were got like I can't remember any other name There's like there's so many yeah, but they they kept a year's on with it They kept him in check and now all the guardrails are gone.
So it's crazy as that first term was it's it's worse now But yeah, that's just the grifters man So I would not be shocked if Sophie Cunningham becomes the next face of manga now She her whole thing with the she claims the trans thing she claims that she loves everybody equally and she just wants with children to be protected Which okay sure and that was a Megan's Responsive protection from who exactly yeah because I'm like the people that are usually taking advantage of these children are coaches or parents or you know Yeah, not trans people in any sense. It was there I wouldn't say she's a friend of the show but there was a person that we knew who had some adamant words towards the recent high school Performance of a trans athlete in California and track and field and was like protecting the girls and protecting them from what in track and field exactly the Transathlete one and it's like okay. You have these issues at this this woman They are winning at this you know high school event It's not gonna prevent anything from happening from anyone else and any recruiter can look at the numbers and be like okay I see what happened here It's like whether you know the CIF can make a decision there whether they want to award that or not and that'll cause it shit Sterene was but it's one person as you say the number of trans athletes in the United States like college included is Probably I think it was something like 500 in total out of the however many college athletes There are which I think it's like half a million maybe more and even among those few We're not talking about total domination We're talking about a game about a fifth place finish and get yeah Yeah, getting her participation trophy taken away because of an alphabetical order of the rules of the CIF or not the CIF That's what happened there people are just they when they see I think of a trans man. They just think of of of a like a Somebody was not transition who still has the testosterone who still is bigger You know like his men just physiologically tend to be bigger and have more muscle mass You know that they just basically they're saying like oh, it's a big burly man in drag Right as opposed to somebody who has done hormone therapy and this and that they no longer have the quote-unquote body type of a man You know It's it's just so tiring man It's just they trotted out every time that they need they want it every time they want to take attention from all their fuckups They this is one of their clap this is one of the hits they go back to is the trans trans athletes every time now Now they're new one this week is they're going we're going back to the fifties because now communism scares her back Oh because what is it the Democrat DS I use yeah It's hysterical that they just they they have no idea what communism is at all none They just know communism is bad.
They know they say oh socialism. That's bad. Whoa, you know, DI it's all bad They don't they can't name what any of those things are they also don't know the difference of everything either because you know We can't really raise the minimum wage. What makes you think that we're gonna get communism into that's what dumb?
That's almost word for word what AOC said yesterday at when she was interviewed like out on the in front of the Capitol She's saying like you how can you claim we're being taken over a communism? She actually said that exact thing she's like we can't even get the minimum wage Bays and you and you're saying that we're being overrun by communists We're being overrun by fascists. Yeah. Oh, yeah I'm like because everything they say just flip it around flip the system of what they're talking about around because they're like oh, you know It's coming to know it's fascism.
It's you know sharia law is what they're worried about what well I'm worried about is biblical law being placed Christian law like it's the same thing and the more that people can understand that Islam Judaism and Christianity have a foundation that is almost exactly the same like they're all pretty much bits of the stories are different The the core values of each of those the values not saying that the values are like it gets interpreted different ways Or essentially the same in a grand scheme of things. It's like be good to each other. That's the whole kind of idea about all this shit Let's build and Ted be good to each other. That was like the main message from all the bill and Ted movies were big good to each other Yeah, or was it be good to one another or I thought it was be good to each other and begin to go away Whatever we get the gist of what it was about and it's just we're We're losing the plot so like as a society we've lost the plot as a society It's unfortunate and we're way it's like we've isolated ourselves off like how many neighbors do you talk to these days?
You want to be left alone? You can tell you the neighbors names. Exactly. I mean we were like that when we were getting older like I didn't talk to many of my I a few of them, you know, like actually here.
I know a few like the surrounding houses I know those neighbors, but you know, I don't really talk to many of them that much, but you know, it's a cordial. Hello How are you doing today? You know, but we yeah, you don't do the Truman show thing like good morning if I don't see you again Good morning. Good evening.
Good night. I should try that some morning. Yeah, yeah Well, okay, so that's sort of a transition But like just the horrible transition but talking about your neck of the woods I was sent I sent it to you you and Sam, but I was this the evidently there there showing movies on the Queen Mary Yes, yeah, like a new thing or is that been going on for a while? I don't know if it's a new thing.
It's happened before like it's so that you know, I don't know where the Queen Mary You're not familiar with it old ocean liner that was like it's not been it. It's not been see where they it's since I don't know six years something like the 50s 60s. It was decommission, but it was a beautiful big ocean liner think Titanic It just sits in the Long Beach Harbor now, but it's a it's a hotel It's a but famously haunted as shit. Yes famously haunted like you can take ghost tours.
I've done the ghost tours I've never stayed there, but it sounds but I can tell you from the tour man. Yeah, that's just haunted man It's creepy as hell like there is one specific room that on the ghost tour that they they say like this is considered the most haunted room in the It's a it's a hotel room in the entire ship And it just felt super like you walk in you're like it feels weird and you're the pool Yeah, the drains pool is considered it's essentially they described it is like think like the hellmouth from Buffy the vampires layer It's like the portal of goes they described as some bizarre thing, but it's this real super creepy room with a giant empty pool Yeah, they actually can't go in the pool area anymore. They banned you from going in there. Do you know why I don't okay?
So someone decided to steal a tile from the pool and That's bad that did not go well for that person that took that tile so they went back to wherever they were from blah blah blah, you know, everyone's like those tiles missing and also in the mail comes back the tile with a note saying Here's your tile back. I'm sorry Because whatever they did caused it things that happened at their house from that tile That's like straight up the the plot of the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie where there's the one piece of cursed gold taken Oh, yeah, Orlando Bloom had on his neck And that's why all that like Jeffrey Rush and all the pirates were like they were like the walking dead Yeah, because until that gold came back or famously the James Dean death car the Porsche the James Dean was killed in yes That basically was crumpled up into to scrap metal, you know from his accident but the parts from it were used in other vehicles like just spare parts and Famously several of those vehicles had tragic accidents like so it was like oh, this is like a haunted car But yeah, so that room that pool room They even said they're like go ahead and take all the photos you want and they kind of did it with a smirk So like I was with some friends of ours friends of the show and we're like oh, yeah Let's get some pictures none of the pictures turned out even with a flash Everything you every picture you took in there was a blurry black mess and it was like what in the hell is going on So anyway creepy is that haunted there they do a movie series evidently in the summer time Kind of similar to famously in LA the Hollywood forever the cemetery does movie screenings over the summer So you're basically going to see movies in a cemetery and you'd think that they would super like if you're going to see movies in a cemetery You think they totally lean into the whole poor zombie genre. They don't they just do they do they do screenings of cool movies Like I've seen I don't know like a dozen, you know, I saw Empire Records 10 things I hate about you They do cold classic reality bite. They do a lot of cold clasps a lot of cold classics, but not a lot of horror Which you think this is a whole meantime.
Yeah, okay, okay But you know it seems like if you're doing a movie screening in a cemetery zombie movies are right there But anyway, so this Queen Mary is doing this film series over the summer and I don't know if they've been doing it for a long time But I was just saw a flyer for it and it's like that seems like you should be doing some ghost movies and some like ship ghost movies Because there are a lot of those but no they're doing it they're doing like three of their screenings are high school musicals one two and three And it's like no, that's a wasted opportunity. You need to show that Julianna Margulies movie ghost ship I think that is what I think go ship is the last one is it okay? The okay their first movie is beside adventure that's a good choice choice the first one the good Reginald green egg like like 10 years that guy that was right like 15 20 years ago now, but like not that one I'm talking gene hack that is a good shing to show on a cruise ship classic Have a Titanic if you want because this ships not moving you're not in danger of hitting anything But it's haunted so show some ghost shit, but like high school musical one two and three Really what a waste that was 21 years ago Poseidon Jesus so five. Yeah That was drustle Josh Lucas was the okay I was gonna say he was there was that around that period There were there were a number of like just somewhat generic and I don't mean to insult them because some of them are talented But somewhat generic like white male actors that were getting cast in a lot of romantic comedies like you had Who'd you just say Josh Lucas?
Yeah, Josh Lucas who I know from sweet home, Alabama with Reese Witherspoon Yeah, Patrick Wilson. Oh, yes, it was a number of things Uh, you had Thomas Jane for a while there like all these just Aaron Aaron Eckhart Remember Aaron Eckhart Yes discussing him when we talked about the core a few weeks ago They're just all these white guys that you could now you just totally get them all mixed up And they don't really look alike but they're just they were just all cast in the same parts They all I think they all went up for the same roles like Patrick Wilson and Josh Lucas They look alike. They look like now and to be fair Okay, they're still they're still working well Josh Lucas. I've not seen anything about but Patrick Wilson Josh Lucas was in palm royale.
He was in Uh, Yellowstone. Oh, okay. So there you go. He's the young version of I think Kevin Costner Oh, okay.
God man that Yellowstone world is they have like eight spin-offs. He also has six upcoming projects. Okay, all right And and um and Patrick Wilson. He's in that cape that new cape for your show and he's been doing he was in that whole horror Series I can't recall which one but I think it was one of the ones with like a doll that was possessed Annabelle one of those he's in he was in multiple of like the same film.
It's hideous. Okay. Yeah, I knew it was one of those poor things So and you know, he was god. He was in the watchman movie.
I know him from the alamo remember the movie Alamo with Dennis quaid and something I never watched but yeah, he was actually pretty good Billy Bob Thornton played Davey Crockett and And uh, Dennis quaid rest in pace Dennis quaid's career because I love that guy Uh, but was it the contract? He does a lot of horrors who Patrick Wilson? Yeah, you know if you find something you're good at he was in insidious He was in the conjuring. Oh the conjuring might be the series.
I'm thinking of to be honest with he was one of those In the nun as well and Annabelle comes home. So he's doing the horrors. You know what if that's I think it's the conjuring you're thinking of because I think There's two non-movies. There's The horror is a that's big business man if you're you're if you're good at something do it because I mean Thomas Jane.
I couldn't tell you the last thing I remember seeing him in well. There was the hung was it hung? Yeah, but even that was like that was a while ago. Yeah, um, he obviously But like if you're you know, like you said with the Josh Lucas and Patrick Wilson just because they even look alike I mean, I was James has a similar look.
I would say that Thomas Jane and Aaron Eckhart look very much alike That is also true. And from what I've heard from Aaron I've heard stories over the years that Aaron Eckhart is like Legendarily difficult on set. So really so it's possible. You don't see him in as many things because people just don't want to work because he's kind of an asshole Um, so that's that's always on the board when you when you're like, you know, we have to with women when we talk about actresses who kind of you Just don't see him anymore.
It's any number of things that it could be by their own choice I could also be that they've aged out of roles because you know, Holly would famously loves older actors and actresses Um, sometimes horrible things like the up, you know, not Epstein Weinstein Uh, or actually, I don't know, but there are a number of reasons But generally speaking if if you see men just disappear probably because they were difficult to work with and they don't like and then they end up on Fox News Brown giving their professional opinions about politics because they're you know played a president once Um, or oh, yeah, it wasn't he wasn't Aaron Eckhart in the the um, I always get them confused There was the two about the White House being attacked. Oh, yeah, he was in one of those there was the one where um, uh, Gerard Butler was like the secret service. Yes, and then there was the other White House down and then White House down was a jarred butler run Right. No, that was Ellipis's fault.
Oh, the ellipis's fault and then the other one had Did the other one have Aaron Eckhart and and um, no, Ellipis's fault Aaron Eckhart was into jarred butler one, which is, uh, Ellipis's fault. He was in the first two and then it became uh, uh, Morgan Flint. Oh, the other one was Jamie Foxx. Yes, right?
Yes White House White House down it was the game we always we always talk about how you know, hollyweight will always do like the two similar movies that come out at the similar time We've talked about it. Yeah, all that, you know, like war movies and any like sometimes as random as like a steep repontain In there were two of them for some reason. Uh, like there were two biopics of kapote at the same time. Oh, yeah Yeah, yeah, there were two I mean going all the way back to to volcano and what was that one with uh, peak?
Not take speed or deep the one that everybody talks about is deep impact and Armageddon, which is really yeah, so it happens a lot But it was and the one I always loved was the two the two movies that came out at the same time about the precocious daughter of the president There was it was first daughter. Oh god Katie Holmes and then the other one was called chasing liberty with me anymore Same movie about the rebellious first daughter first daughter um But uh way where what were we talking about White House down or area? Yeah, so there were so there were just two random movies about why the White House being attacked by a terrorist and they I get them constantly confused Because I can never remember which one is an olympus olympus is falling because there were two One they got the spin-offs. That's the one that started doing ones in Europe where other they did one in England.
Uh, oh god I have now But anyway, so yeah, so you're an ark that's the last thing I remember seeing uh Aaron Eckhart and I believe um Oh, we're dark knight. I mean, he's had a pretty big role in dark knight Um Okay, there's a segue going from dark knight. Did you see the Odyssey? I have not seen the other segue I'm gonna go see it this weekend.
I believe so it is more of the timing of the situation the girls will be at their fathers and then you know White and I are gonna go check it out with are you gonna see it? I'm ex I that is the way to see it but I do not feel like I'm gonna be able to see it at night max No, see that's I mean that's always been Like Which you know, whatever the problem is is that uh, they're like 70 proper imax theaters in the world Like it's it's not I mean you being in southern california, you got a much higher chance of finding one there aren't in mrs Um, so and yes, even on regular formats his movies still work though I saw some crazy like overlay of how much of the screen gets cut off when you see an imax a movie shot in imax that um That is scaled for like a regular white screen movie So like you lose a lot but but I'm sure it's just that's this thing I get it like he shoots everything that way Oh, the seat that I usually go to has an imax so yeah, I mean I'm sure it's got to be like 40 dollars a ticket I don't want to know because I'm gonna be buying for three that way so because my niece is up visiting for the week And I'm like I gotta take her back down this weekend at some point and go see the mother who still I believe listening to the show Not 100% of that one I do Um, so yeah, well, you know, I saw that obviously the the mega hoycott of the odyssey Yeah, basically really hurt sales really really has done something because I was looking at the numbers And currently total gross is at 123 billion dollars In two 50s that worldwide that's why that is just the action that's here now. I haven't like a That's become their huge elan musk is leading it to like the culture war attempted boycott of the odyssey because um Well, you know their problems with it are exactly what you would think their problems with it are one was lapita no longer playing hell in Troy for two scenes is it yeah Yeah, no and they're in because you know elan musk race is asshole They basically the whole right-wing thing is hell and Troy's supposed to be the most beautiful in the world and you make her lapita no Which yeah, no, you know what I've seen lapita no one go I would buy that that works But they she has a certain skin pigmentation that they don't like Um, and then they also lost their minds over they thought that eliot page was gonna be a keelies Right or losing their shit over that because keelies supposed to be the you know, the manliest warrior It turned out he was not playing a keelies and like you said both parts both lapita and eliot page very small It's funny when you say this because there's a whole theory going around now that because of what happened in the uproar of eliot page playing a keelies that Oh, no one decided to change the character's name They are it's so funny. They've um, they're moving the goal post the people that are so upset about this movie They um They're trying to now they're they know that the eliot page they're wrong about the people who are going the eliot page So they're just trying to come up with new reasons the boy caught it.
Um, well you Oh no just a quick side note because if you look at troy because everyone's now doing the troy odyssey thing because it's the eliot and Really bad take on the eliot and the odyssey, but the thing about the kilies was that isn't in the movie they make his lover his cousin In you know the one the younger like the one who brings to him with ward tells him to stay on the boat That's not actually his cousin in the story. That's his his lover. Um, so they didn't want that theme going through for obvious reasons So, you know, it's just funny how they don't read anything anyway, so Well, and the I mean the the most insane part is that they the right megaphokes are treating like this like this is a historical fact Story it's a story like you're you long going just losing his shit over a black woman cast is Helen of troy When the same movie has fucking cyclops man. Yeah, there are cyclops in the movie and you know what they didn't hire cyclops actors Right there.
Um, but yeah, they're losing them. So like every little point that gets of theirs that gets disproven like eliot page playing a keelies They'll just move on I saw one of the right-wing agitators who's like big on twitter. I think his name is like michael tracy He's like one of the grifters. Um, he's like a benny johnson type if you know those those those assholes and that that that part of the world um, he was complaining about uh He was complaining basically saying that no one fucked it up by making it a non-linear story And it's like okay, you clearly have not read the odyssey because it is a non-linear story I saw somebody else complain that there wasn't enough like agamemnon and the trojan horse and all that and it was like Yeah, that's a different book like that's that's a completely different book.
That's the prequel Maybe like watching return like lord of the rings and being like why isn't there more hobbit stuff? Where would I find hobbit stuff read the other book like read the prequel man? Uh, but and then yeah, then their latest is even funnier is the 200 I just saw that 250 4 million dollar figure which whether it was worldwide or whatever Is the right Magafolks are now claiming that those numbers are inflated by the studio by buying out entire theaters and then the theaters being empty Oh kind of like how um melania trump jr. Has a best-selling book that has the oh, yeah The symbol next to it because we bought in bulk.
Oh, yeah, they bought it Yeah, mag is they're known for that. They bought it They bought out all the trump jr books and then like hand them out at rallies and shit But they got the credit for being sold because they bought them all uh, they did the same thing from lawneas documentary That even and they didn't even do that right because that the the opening weekend of the money documentary in theaters The numbers seemed unusually high because it was like who the hell is seeing this movie? But then it turned out like people that worked at the theaters were posting photos They want not as the example. There's not a soul here It's so they're obviously we're buying tickets just to inflate the numbers Right and of course now the elons of the world are trying to claim that Nolan's doing that which um, I don't think it's true at all Good luck.
Yeah, the amount of people who are talking about this is like the second coming of movies which yeah, no No, it's it's pretty it's incredible that like, you know, most people would make movies like the dark night trilogy and then people would be like Oh, you can't talk that that's that's your pinnacle every everything's down here heal from here And then yet tenant was not as loved but then Oppenheimer comes out and he's like, oh, this is even better than that And then this is even better than dark night trilogy and then they announced this odyssey and people were like, well, surely this can't be as good as Oppenheimer And now this comes out like well shit. It's better like every movie he's making is better than the previous movie I can't agree with that because I haven't seen two of them. I haven't seen Dunkirk and I haven't seen Oppenheimer Too I haven't watched yet and I tried I started watching a tenant to see the other one. I actually I started watching it.
I was like, okay So it's a paying attention like and that's the problem I had I was like tenant you need to watch what's going on because it's There's something more going on and he's not explaining it to you. You have to watch and see what's going on That is one of the complaints about it It visually and sound like it sounds really cool But I just I have to be in a headspace to watch it So I will get there and then but prestige is still my favorite film of his Proceed is great. Yeah, you know, memento is one of the ones that blew me away just because of what the film was I never watched it though It's a one-watch movie to me. Okay.
I saw I saw it was Sam in the theater Theater in West with it no longer exists and I couldn't tell you how much I've watched the sense it wasn't a lot Like to me a good movie is something you can watch again and enjoy just as much as the first time you watch it I find the procedure something I can watch numerous times Speaking of movies that came out the same time the illusionist as well as the procedure. Yes. Yes Another one that we forgot the yeah, that is very true. I did not like the illusionist very much But I I procedious I enjoyed the illusionist.
I Paul G money was what I enjoyed about the illusionist Not just a bill or Ed Norton But I would just could be all is just The time to me. I can't think of anything that she's super memorable in She's too pretty for it, but she's not in it very much But it's just it just didn't like rivet's tool was very good in it like yeah, he's always good as a bad guy Yeah, he's classic always so He but yeah another prestige which getting his dog met Elon one of the better cooler coolest portrayals of Nikola Tesla in movies by David Bowie yes kind of weird spoiler alert that that Huge Jackman's character would take what is kind of the coolest technology anybody's ever seen and use it for something is stupid as on stage magic But whatever um in Christian Bale is great. Yeah, no that would I'd say that's I mean I still love the dark night trilogy But yeah, I'd say that that that procedure is incredible Yeah, but you know I don't know what Nolan's next move is like it's hard I mean you I think he said he'd actually like to do a horror film because he's never done one He was talking about that but he was also talking about obsession and back rooms as being like do I really need to do this And he's like odyssey's kind of a horror movie in its own right so he I'm a horror movie in its own right yes, so he's done. I'm just different It's just how you view what a horror movie is so you know at the end of the day It's it's still good.
He's probably the best filmmaker we have right now because you sent me yeah the power list of yeah vulture vulture did a list of the I didn't go I it was just a post on social media so I didn't see exactly what they how they made this list But the list was the vulture ranked the most powerful directors in Hollywood List of 20 names so it's Nolan coogler were one two which is no Nolan coogler and villain over one two three which is sinners dude Yes, it's like we're talking about this and I took powerful to mean not necessarily just successful But that is part of it But I took powerful to mean like is this director gonna have problems green lighting another movie greenlight Not just green light but make money off the movie. Yeah, like it's a director that Nolan you see like oh no one's coming out the movie Yeah, that's gonna do well. Yeah, it's gonna be good I take that to mean what powerful means you know like success and What you assume is going to be future success and you're you already know it's gonna be quality And the studio I doubt Nolan's gonna have to pitch things to studios They'll probably be like the hell like Warner Brothers Universal are they're fighting each other to get Nolan movies because I believe this one was this I believe this and Oppenheimer were universal but like all his dark nights stuff was war brothers So they're fighting each other so that's what I take to mean powerful is they can do whatever the fuck they want and Tarantino's number five on the list not a surprise then it's Cameron and Spielberg like all the all the ones you'd expect The one that was a bit of a surprise is that so it goes Nolan coogler villain of who yeah those three guys can do whatever They want the fourth one was Greta Gerway and I want to see might be the only woman on the list No, she's not there's Yeah, there was one other on here. I believe but but the Greta Gerwig one was interesting to me Oh, there's one number 18 is Emerald Fennel.
I assume that's who I'm thinking. I don't know who that is But the so Greta Gerwig number four on the list. She's ahead of Cameron. She's ahead of Tarantino She's ahead of Spielberg.
She's ahead of Jordan Peele Paul Thomas Anderson James Gunn. They're all in this list David Fincher Del Toro like all this list is there's a few directors on this list that I am not familiar with but for most most of the part They're like the big the big guns and Greta Gerwig is I enjoy her films. I enjoyed later bird I thought she'd her little women was great. I thought Barbie was great.
I enjoyed it a lot right now She has a she hasn't done anything since Barbie. She has a narnia movie that's kind of stuck in like a Netflix development hell at the moment But that's supposed to be coming out. I don't know if it's actually been filmed yet or if it's still like pre-production but like I'm putting her at number four I mean Can she just get anything she wants green light at this point? I don't know if she can you take Barbie I mean Barbie was wildly successful in a great movie, but the rest of her films aren't like super super successful They were good.
They were you know, they're what they won awards, which is always good thing studios look at that But like Barbie's the only one that made a ton of money. I think Budgetarily speaking it's like her films don't cost as much as these other ones and that's big project I do make Barbie money. It's just not the Barbie's what did it for Barbie budget wasn't that big But so I so I look I look at the point of okay say you're a studio head or somebody that just isn't charged with green lighting projects And you just say hey Tarantino wants to make a movie. You're like, yeah, we're gonna make that I don't care what it is.
We're gonna make Tarantino's movie the same thing with um, you know, I'm sure squirt Well, so Scorsese sort of heard himself over the years Like his last view have just been like well, they're not going to theater now Like he's a straight straight straight home theater like he's the net fl- in the netflix route has ruined Scorsese because he no longer has a studio to be like Stop shorting this shit like so now he's now. He's doing like for so like the Irishman was four hours long And I think his that killers of the flower moon was super long too Like the Irishman had he had been an old school studio situation like universal They would have been like no, you're not releasing a four hour movie edit this but netflix is like not do whatever you want Yeah, so he's got a four hour movie um for a but yeah, I just I mean James Gunn on that list You think would be pretty powerful because he's green lighting his own movies like he runs the studio He's making films for hmm. We'll see how long he's running that studio after the purchase of two so That purchase happened. Well, that's true.
That's there's some some issues coming up with that right now It's it's from what I read it. Maybe it's wishful thinking it looks closer to dead than actually yeah I actually believe that this should be because I don't believe the purchase should be happening because they've not put up any money for the purchase Like they're borrowing everything and that's that's part of the problem is the longer because because a few judges have like put the kabosh on it because it's It's there's an anti-trust they go on with two of the major studios emerging and uh Like it's a simple enough And on that fine note, I know Nate will come back to the next week with our well I'll have a day guard on the other side whether you go to see or not is up to you But I will have seen the process That the modern day complete
