Episode 37: Children And The Storm (Mark 4: 35 - 41 And Luke 9: 46 - 48)
from You Gotta Have Faith · host You Gotta Have Faith
On today’s Faith podcast, we tackle two bible verses. Craig Dickerson focuses on Mark 4: 35-41, where Jesus and the disciples are on the boat that is rocked by a storm. While the apostles are shaken by their fear, Jesus rebukes the storm (Peace be still) and rebukes the disciples for their lack of faith. The lesson is clear – Jesus is always there, if we acknowledge him – and the storm, no matter what your storm is in life, is never stronger than God and your faith in him. I focus on Luke 9: 46-48, where Jesus uplifts a child while the disciples quibble over who is greatest among them. I connect the passage to the horrible events happening at the US border, where immigrants are jailed along with their children. Jesus’ command is crystal clear: Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me (Luke 9: 48). The Trump Administration is focused so much on appeasing their base that they willingly neglect the children that God would want us to embrace. I invite everyone to contribute to RAICES (www.raicestexas.org), an organization that gives legal aid and bond relief to immigrants looking to come to this country. It’s already raised lots of money but they can always use more.
