Democracy is a fragile thing. A cornerstone of a vibrant democratic society includes freedom of expression. Cancel culture is the antithesis of freedom of expression. The emergence of cancel culture is a symptom of how sick American democracy has become in our modern world.When a society is more passionate about name-calling, de-platforming, shouting down, ignoring, or canceling opposing views than defending a position, critically evaluating opinions, and demonstrating open-mindedness, that society is killing itself from within.Cancel culture aligns perfectly with a one-opinion communist or socialist mindset, not democracy. It needs to stop. Left and Right need to come together and end cancel culture.
