Episode 38: David Pizarro: Correcting Bias-- Heuristics and Decision-Making

from The Social Exchange · host Zach Rhoads

David Pizarro is a Psychology Professor at Cornell University. He is also co host (with Tamler Sommers) of "Very Bad Wizards"-- one of our favorite podcasts!  In this episode, David and Zach discussed moral judgement and decision-making (from personal decisions to widespread policies). They also explored mental shortcuts called "heuristics"--  how they can be tremendously helpful or quite harmful, depending on how they're used. Most importantly, They talked about strategies for correcting our inherent biases and making more sound decisions.    ****** Listen to "Very Bad Wizards" https://verybadwizards.fireside.fm/   Follow Very Bad Wizards on twitter http://twitter.com/verybadwizards   Visit David's Web Site http://www.peezer.net/   Follow David on twitter https://twitter.com/peez   ****** CHECK OUT PRODUCER AARON FERGUSON'S ORIGINAL MUSIC HERE http://soundcloud.com/knowmad1   ****** VISIT OUR NEW "MODES OF EXCHANGE" BLOG SITE http://modesofexchange.org  LEARN ABOUT ZACH'S BOOK WITH STANTON PEELE, OUTGROWING ADDICTION http://outgrowingaddiction.com    Become a Patron  http://patreon.com/thesocialexchange   Visit our audible link--- download a free audio book and support the show! http://audibletrial.com/socialexchange   Listen on iTunes (and leave us a review!) https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/t...    * * * * * *  Thanks to our new patrons - Dee-Dee Stout - Christopher Hanlon  - André Pampel - CARTER Vermont  - Rick Barnett  - Anne M.
