Episode 383: Vintage MWSD Album by Les Gotcher (1970)

This episode we feature a vintage long-play album recorded by Les Gotcher.  Released in 1970 on his own Black Mountain Label (copyright ownership by Buddy Weaver Music) Les was the true pioneer of square dancing.  His type of calling - blending parts of one routine with another routine - gained popularity with the dancers which then gave encouragement to other callers to adapt this style.  Along with this new extemporaneous square dancing came a new style of calling.  Les Gotcher's style of delivery from timing to cadence is the model of modern western square dance calling.
