Sam recently shared with Sasha that she had also lost her first child. In 2004, Sam was pregnant with Sonny's daughter but the baby was stillborn. During this time, Kristina Davis-Corinthos needed a bone marrow transplant, prompting Alexis to approach Sam about using Kristina's sister, baby Lila's, umbilical cord to save her daughter's life. Sam suffered a placenta abruption resulting in Lila being stillborn. It's a heartbreaking story but one that had a lasting impact on all of the families involved.
