Episode 4: Coming out, Exploring Sexuality, And a Beautiful Thing Called Love

from No Boundaries: Black Girl Magic Edition with Anousha Nzume · host Anousha Nzume

Love is love. No matter what. In this week’s episode, we’re talking all about coming out, exploring our sexuality, and embracing a beautiful thing called love. Lulu shares her personal experience with being outed — a moment that should have been her choice, not someone else's. But as you know, if you’ve been listening to the first few episodes of the podcast, this person is horrible. While being outed without warning was frustrating, she was lucky to have a loving family who supported her no matter who she loved. We also talk about what it means to be an ally, especially when it comes to supporting your children. In the episode, we reflect on how our parents raised us and our siblings to be accepting of everyone, and why that foundation made it easier for us to support our queer family memebers when they shared their truth. We also talk about common fears and misconceptions parents may have when their child comes out — like the idea that something went "wrong" — and why love and acceptance are key. After all, if you believe in God, then you know that God doesn’t make mistakes. So why question it? We hope this episode offers some comfort, support, and maybe even a little guidance, whether you’re navigating your own journey or showing up for someone you love.Enjoy!
