Episode 4: Engineering the Future with Nathan McDaniel

What does it take to engineer the future of mobile living from the ground up? In Episode 4 of Live Beyond Limits, host Chris Kerzich sits down with Nathan McDaniel, Mechanical Engineer at AC Future, for a behind-the-scenes conversation about engineering, innovation, artificial intelligence, and what it’s really like to build ambitious new products inside a startup. Nathan shares what drew him to mechanical engineering and why solving problems through creativity, experimentation, and constant optimization continues to drive him. He also discusses the unique experience of working at AC Future, where engineers can contribute across multiple areas of product development rather than focusing on just one piece of the puzzle. In this episode, Chris and Nathan discuss: 🔹 Engineering AC Future’s next generation of mobile living solutions 🔹 Turning ambitious concepts into practical, manufacturable products 🔹 The engineering challenges of working within a startup 🔹 Navigating regulatory requirements for trailers and recreational vehicles 🔹 How regulations influence engineering and product design 🔹 The growing role of AI in mechanical engineering 🔹 How AI could become another essential engineering tool alongside CAD, SOLIDWORKS, and other technologies 🔹 Smart-home technology and the opportunity to make everyday life simpler 🔹 What young engineers can learn from working across disciplines 🔹 The experience of helping build a new category of products from an early stage For Nathan, working at AC Future means wearing many hats. From product concepting and practical engineering to regulatory research and supporting the broader team, startup life offers an opportunity to learn quickly and contribute directly to bringing a vision to life. It’s a candid conversation with one of AC Future’s emerging engineers about the people, technology, and engineering behind the mission to rethink how and where we live.
