The latest episode of the IJPM Podcast explores the topic of gender-sensitive mental healthcare.Dr Sean Crowley, Trainee Editor of the IJPM, sat down with Professor Siobhán MacHale and Dr Yvonne Hartnett to discuss their recent article, Providing Gender-Sensitive Mental Healthcare to Address the Specific Needs of Women. They discuss a wide range of topics including gender disparities in healthcare, women as research participants and biases in doctor-patient interactions for women.Professor Siobhán MacHale is a consultant liaison psychiatrist working in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin. She has had an interest in in women’s healthcare. Dr Yvonne Hartnett has just finished her specialist training in liaison and perinatal psychiatry and is currently working as an Aspire Fellow in women’s health in St Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin.
