In Episode 4 of the Mindful Life Podcast I talk about my special interest and passion for the field of Hypnobirthing and my journey to becoming a Certified Hypnobirthing Childbirth Educator. I explore what Hypnobirthing is all about along with my thoughts on the medicalization of modern childbirth and the impact that medical interventions can have on birth satisfaction and post partum mental health. I also highlight the flip side of the; how a positive birth experience with the help of programs like hypnobirthing can reduce or even prevent medical intervention and in turn promote beneficial outcomes not only for mums mental health but for the mother baby relationship and the family as a whole. This episode is a little controversial, it’s a little left of centre and some may say a little radical, so I'd recommend approaching this episode with an open mind **For more information on Hypnobirthing or to book a class with Mindful Hypnobirthing, check out the links below,  *Hypnobirthing Australia www.hypnobirthingaustralia.com.au  *Mindful Hypnobirthing, find my class on Facebook under the handle Mindful Hypnobirthing  **Studies/information quoted in this episode  *Research on rates of intervention and effectiveness of Hypnobirthing type programs-courtesy of Western Sydney University-Article ABC Aust. *Research on rates of Caesarean sections-courtesy of Dept of Health 2007 *Dickly-Read, Grant "Childbirth Without Fear" 1942 If for any reason, you have found the content of todays podcast triggering or distressing in any way please consider accessing some professional support (Aust only);  Telephone Counselling support  *PANDA (9am-730pm Mon-Fri) 1300 726306 *Beyond Blue 1300 22 4636 *Lifeline 131114  You can find The Mindful Life Podcast on Facebook and Instagram under the handle Mindful Life Podcast.  To collaborate or make contact, please email [email protected]

Mindful Gaming Dr. Jeffrey Swift Gaming can be one of the very worst activities for a person to do, or it can be one of the best. When a person plays video games intentionally, or mindfully, they can strengthen mental health, provide physical exercise, and build relationships and communities. Without that mindfulness, however, video games can suck the life out of grades, drive parents and children apart, and become a source of toxicity and stress in a young person’s life. The Mindful Gaming podcast aims to help gamers thoughtfully and intentionally engage with video games.
