Episode 3 - Positive with Patrick and Ralph McAllister
Release Date: 01/10/2022
Description: In this episode, I speak with my oldest, and my OLDEST friend, Ralph. We discuss how we met; he admits that he thought that I wasn't quite right at the age of 19! We also discuss our working definition of boring people and how a lot of people just aren't that interested in listening to each other. Ralph also discusses the pain of losing two of his most precious loving relationships. Ralph told me about three years ago that he was dying. Well he was wrong. He's still here and for that I am very grateful. About Ralph: Ralph grew up in Scotland in the 1940s. He moved to New Zealand as a young man and became a teacher in his late teens. Ralph has always been passionate about the creative arts, particularly in education. Ralph taught me how to teach and probably how to think for myself and to be all of myself no matter what. He's an excellent teacher, director, reviewer of theatre and books. Ralph reads about 150+ books a year and regularly reviews books on Radio New Zealand. He was also the only person I felt safe enough to turn to when I came out. Ralph lives in Paekakariki, a small beachside town north of Wellington, New Zealand. Find and contact Ralph: Try lurking in bookshops, you might just get lucky. About Patrick: Patrick is a qualified Business and Personal Coach (PG. Cert.). His passion is your well-being and growth. Episode 6 - Positive with Patrick and Carmel Bridges
Release Date: 02/21/2022
Description: In this episode, I speak with my sister Carmel, who is four years older than me. We talk about her period of extreme anxiety and what she did to work through that time and what it was like for her. We didn't know until recent years that anxiety has been in our family for a very long time. Carmel is a beautiful woman and spirit. The two of us are close and also quite silly together but I've made sure that the edit isn't too rude or inappropriate. It is, but just a bit. About Carmel: Carmel Bridges lives in Western Australia, Perth, with her husband and twins who are now in their 20s. She's a brilliant mum and child carer to little little kids. What's always struck me about her is how much love, positivity and generosity she exudes wherever she goes. Carmel is incredibly resilient and has always been an incredible strength and support to me. She also happens to be a fantastic cook and a lot of our conversations include quite a lot of talk about food. Find and Contact Carmel: Your best best would be finding her through my instagram or finding her in an Italian deli in a beach town in Perth, WA. About Patrick: Patrick is a qualified Business and Personal Coach (PG. Cert.). His passion is your well-being and growth. How can we live a life of deeper purpose and fulfillment? Now more than ever we must take full responsibility and engage in our own evolution as conscious agents rather than simply being passive victims. On BEING, podcast host Patrick Cooke explores what it means to BE human in the modern world through the lens of creativity, consciousness and personal development. Through authentic conversations with guests from across the spectrum including artists, intellectuals, scientists, visionaries, entrepreneurs and thought leaders, we make collective sense of a complex world with the goal of building a sustainable future. We can no longer afford to ask ‘what is best for me?’, the question must now become ‘what is best for me and the whole simultaneously?’
