Episode #40: BlacKkKlansman

from Reel Film Nerds · host Drowning Nerd Productions

Welcome listeners new and old to the Reel Film Nerds Podcast!  Today your hosts Matt Hinshaw and Mysterious Mike get political while reviewing Spike Lee’s latest joint BlacKkKlansman.  They really tried to keep politics out but it is very difficult with a film like this.  Was Mike able to keep the Marvel Cinematic Universe tie-ins going?  Heck ya he was, this makes 32 movies Mike has tied to the MCU.  If you are wondering why it is only 32 out of 40 well Mike did not join the show until Episode #4: Black Panther, we have reviewed 3 MCU films, and lastly Mike did not appear on two episodes (Episode #9 and Episode #12).  I know more information then you care to know but it is pretty cool that we are proving our theory.     Mike and Matt both enjoyed this film and recommend you see it if it’s available near you.  It is not a must for a movie theater, but it is worth your time if it is.  Adam Driver and John David Washington were excellent along with the fascinating true story.  The guys thought there were some political scenes and writing Spike Lee added to the film that were not needed.  This film is already impactful enough in today’s climate without them.  Mike gives BlacKkKlansman a respectable 3 out of 5 Reels.  Matt thought it earned higher marks then that even though there were parts of the film he did not think were necessary.  He gives BlacKkKlansman a 4 out of 5 Reels.  Thank you for liking, subscribing, rating, reviewing, and telling your friends about our podcast.  The guys will be back with Episode #41 on Thursday for another Legacy cast, the infamous film that launched the career of Kevin Smith, Clerks.  Chat at you then.  If you have a film you would like to hear Matt and Mike review please Facebook message us, Instagram message us, or email us at [email protected] Our little show can be found anywhere Podcasts reside such as iTunes, Stitcher, Google Play, Tune In, Player FM, etc. While you are there like, subscribe, rate, and review us if you can too!
