from The Strength in Hormones Podcast · host Lauren Papanos

We welcome Sara Mercier to our show to educate us on the connection of oral health and hormones.  Sara is a registered dental hygienist (RDH), certified Myofunctional Airway Specialist and Orofacial Myologist. Myofunctional therapists collaborate with a team of providers who are licensed to diagnose and treat conditions that arise from the poor oral rest posture that myofunctional therapy is designed to correct.    The goal of Myofunctional Therapy is to achieve proper oral rest posture that allows the tongue to be lightly suctioned to the roof of the mouth from the tip all the way to the back of the tongue, lips lightly closed without the chin muscle helping, and nasal breathing 24/7.   Sara works with clients to correct sleep disordered breathing, sleep apnea, TMJ disorder, clenching/grinding, etc. to address and correct the root cause of these health problems.   Oral health and hormones is not a connection most people think about.
