Episode #41: Legacy – Clerks

from Reel Film Nerds · host Drowning Nerd Productions

So Mike slacked off this week and did not do his homework so we will not be reviewing Mile 22, yet.  He only made it to BlacKkKlansman.  Matt did his homework so for once it is not his fault!  Instead we bring you an incredible Legacy cast indie film that launched Kevin Smith’s career into the stratosphere, Clerks.  As you already know if you are still listening to our podcast after 40 episodes we get off topic a lot.  Here is the short list of things we talk about today.  Russell Crowe’s codpiece from Cinderella Man, Mike’s high school nickname, the acceptance of nerd culture, Blockbuster, Sprouts grocery stores (seriously), Star Wars, of course, and lastly the Reel Film Nerds upcoming October horror movie fest!  Sit back relax crack open your favorite brew and enjoy the show unless you are at work then just get back to work you slacker! Matt loves Clerks a ton.  It has incredible writing and dialogue with solid cinematography but really rough acting.  Hey it is an indie and Kevin Smith basically used all of his friends and family as actors.  They did a bang up job though.  He gives Clerks 4.5 out of 5 Reels.  Mike loves Clerks as well but not as much as Matt.  Maybe it is the high school nickname he earned related to this film or maybe he is just harsh.  Mike gives Clerks a respectable 4 out of 5 Reels.  Stay tuned for next week’s episodes when we review Mark Wahlberg’s latest action flick Mile 22 (maybe?) and the raunchy yet hilarious puppet caper The Happy Time Murders starring Melissa McCarthy.  Thanks for listening and chat at you Tuesday!
