Episode 41 - Raw (2016) - "Ohh, Baby I Like It Rawww"

from I Didn’t Need To See That · host Peter Radwanski

CW: Violence, gore, depictions of cannibalism Come One Come all to the flesh eaters ball. This month we’re capping off our year of themes with a tried and true cultural taboo just in time for the holidays; It’s Christmas with the Cannibals ya’ll! This month we’re digging into 2 films that highlight the fascinating, grotesque, and even horny topic of Cannibalism; Kicking things off with the 2016 coming-of-age horror film, Raw. Join us as we revisit one of our favorite directors, Julia Ducournau (see our coverage of her film “Titane” on one of our earlier episodes) with her debut film that got everybody talking, and even a few people vomiting in their seats. We discuss how Raw serves as a sort of dry run for themes we’ll see Ducournau continue in her follow up film, and how some of the most visceral moments of grotesquerie in this film aren’t even the cannibalism! (But those get pretty gnarly too). Also discussed on today’s episode, Can women actually pee standing up? Is there a Bechdel test for gay men? And Does PETA actually care if you eat people? It’s a Dog eat Dog world on this episode on this week’s episode of “I Didn’t Need To See That!”  Follow us:  Email: [email protected] Instagram: @Ididntneedtoseethatpod
