There's a podcast which would be exciting Well I moved into a new home so that was most of my summer for a while so that was not the exciting part That's super sucks because of moving sucks Summer's been hot you're still in the like Palm Springs Oh, yeah, I moved in the same neighborhood. Just do a different home.
All right It's like a couple blocks over so is that more of a like Dredgery and moving or was that like cuz you know when you think normally you pack up You haul truck and you drive like five miles down the street and then come back But if you're just like literally around the corner of the same neighborhood Yeah, is it worse or easier or it was easier mainly because I just had some I had to make like five trips Okay, so it's super suck. Yeah, and the budget guy truck was all messed up when work. Yeah, they gave me only money back That was cool, but I didn't ask for it I just complained because he was like oh, we're not gonna charge a car We're just holding in on file for the deposit. I was like cool.
Well, they charge my card So I was zero dollars and I was like dude. They took my money the hell They said they weren't a charge of card they did Yes, they took a 150 the deposit But they said they were gonna hold it It doesn't charge the card But what they do is they charge the card then they go over how many miles and gas you use and then they just Refund what is rightfully yours and charge you out of it when you give me the whole 150 back I'm almost a hundred percent positive it was a mistake so I didn't follow I mean I was cool. I just kept that shit. I can't my 150.
Yeah, man. So yeah, so wait I remember helping you move there with SWAT right two years ago. Yeah, yeah That was the worst move ever not because of you or the thing it was just he yeah Yeah, I was like 112 outside the U-Haul truck Yeah, and I was inside the one pack in the box. I think it was really hot. Yeah, it was really bad So you moved but also you went to the big all Vegas. That was the exciting part I got it. I got to go to evolution Evo 2018.

Yeah, I saw an article on it I don't think it's official I think it's like he talked about it because he started his own team now the beast so he has his sponsoring players now So I think he's doing that's happening a lot right now in video games like mezzar Ozil from Arsenal They are creating like FIFA teams really like in real life like video games like over the Overwatch League They're doing that for FIFA They did it for Overwatch they've been doing for all these integrating teams and they're getting sponsorships like mezzar Ozil has his own team And he's he recruited people and he funds them. Yeah, it's a really big thing So I go has pretty good players I mean he's got Chris to turn in on if you guys know any guys Chris to use a guy who goes on a la can name He's got me, huh? You've got PR Balrog is really a player. He's got food. Oh who was second place two Evo's ago I think so I'm really curious and this is like a Outsider, you know a few weeks back. We did a final fantasy for Demi's episode This is like a mini segment Evo for Demi's I'm like pro gaming for Demi's yeah, so so I did do a little you know watching of some Evo highlights and a few things stood out Like for instance one thing I was really surprised by was the fact that when they showed the and maybe this is this particular match but um It was like Sonic Fox versus some like go chunky white dude chunky white dude.
Oh, you're talking about the injustice Yeah, right and the injustice match. Yeah, and then when it showed it's like there's like a billion people in the audience Yeah, and then they're just like sitting at a little table with like two little like 20 In front of the stage Okay, so it is a stage and so there's a big I mean, it's huge projector screen. Oh, it's a movie theater size projector screen in front of where they're playing Oh, you don't see that and I mean the feed that I was watching gonna show that yeah So you're watching the up close to other two players because that was a moment where the player was like standing up and talking a lot of trash The sonic box. Yeah, yeah, he was like telling him to pick a different character Because I was known for picking up on two characters He like knows everybody needs to post to be the best and then justice but um This guy plays starfire and sonic box also picks starfire Actually got pissed and then he beat sonic box in the first match and instead up and told him to pick a different character The sonic box didn't and then the dude beat him again And he said up and he was like pick a character pick up someone else It was really cool actually cuz I don't like I'm taking that I think that dude I don't know I don't give up with injustice too much because only three people even entered Yeah, Rogers throwing in justice turn around rising.
Yeah, yeah We'll only get to a hundred people Because of evil only gets 350 the most prestigious of all video game tournaments It's like he's not if he gets three people like you got one percent of the entire you I'm so hard man. It's just wasn't a very great game. Why do you think that is you think it's more the The characters that because it's like not some badass like anime based thing you know the mechanic Ninja turtles and that could be a big reason to you know the overall in our games with the other realms game they Their games aren't always that popular I mean Mortal Kombat X was pretty popular for a while, but even it started to die pretty quick I mean you gotta look at numbers like was it Marvel's outcome three ultimate came out I want to say in 2010 could be 2010 something that and didn't leave Evo until 2018 was the first year wasn't there World combat I think about 12 does 12 come on X and it's last year Evo was 2016 With only 700 entrance and Marvel it was I mean I think three years older than it were older than in kicks And it was I think or 500 more entrance almost did the the entry that followed Marvel versus Capcom 3 was like Marvel infinite infinite. Did that take off at all?
So no that also tanks really really hard. I mean it didn't make it to Evo So what makes games popular that Evo wants to have like what game like DB fighters? Obviously, I mean the fanbase around I mean obviously you're looking at copies sold Evo also has a lot of tournaments to look at before it comes around that has to do with entrances like CEOs a really big tournament Just a bunch of other regional tournaments. They can look at numbers of entrance there and things like that and just they know you know Okay, this is gonna be a very popular game for evolution But also mr.
Wizard who is a gentleman who runs Evo So he Yeah Anyway, so Capcom themselves were like assumed that Marlon would be evil so they made an assumption like oh yeah When we're you go we'll do this and then so he kind of got mad I was like okay, you're just assuming that you're in my tournament because there's no game to you'll make my tournament Well, then it just started dying down from there It didn't really take off as much people would have liked and then he went ahead and said not gonna be a evil and that's I think what else So bit them, you know, no not being evil. I was like, oh wow, I guess it's not a people. Okay, you know You play the game wasn't even good. It was fun The gameplay was really fun actually most people will tell you that the game mechanics was like a really awesome fast-paced 2v2 game The problem is it looked like trash for one the marketing was terrible with it Battle for the stones tournament series.
They did didn't go well I mean it was pretty crappy It was just a really dumb idea where you had these stones that helped you out and bracket like defeat your opponents and stuff like that And you earned stones by winning tournament, so it was just um that sounds retarded Yeah, it's just kind of the opening roster was pretty terrible It was just like a bunch of copies of ours outcome three and then they announced DLC before the game was even out They're like, oh, yeah, these three characters would be DLC a little bit but it was like a couple days before They're like by the way, they didn't tell us who the characters were they just had eight DLC characters will be coming and we didn't know they were So what were the top games evil? Most by most entrance or just excitement like we go to most entrance was Dragon Ball Z and then Street Fighter 5 Dragon Ball Z only beat it by think of 100 people 100 people 150 people were busy. Oh shoot It was in the 2000s for sure. That's to me that Street Fighter still has that kind of like staying power Street Fighter is gonna be the number one and people there's a lot of people who absolutely hate Street Fighter 5 Yeah, but it's stays around man.
There's enough am based people just love Street Fighter still You know, you've no matter how bad the game is people play as weird because even in Street Fighter 4 people hate it for a while They're like this game is terrible. It's getting extra Right, right exactly everyone's a 5-0 they came out and I do bring for back. I was like what so I get a T-3 by 6 comes out They're gonna bring my back enough. It's just the rain fight.
It seems like I don't know so Do you think it's almost like because Street Fighter is Street Fighter? I can still very clearly remember being a kid, you know coming out of a movie theater There's a Street Fighter cabinet there and everyone is like gathered around it to play you know Street Fighter 2 Right, right. It was like the first game that really like just like stole everyone's attention by storm and was like This is the game yeah, and to where maybe like those characters like everyone forever will be like dude can and grew you know They're forever the greatest most iconic fighting characters. Yeah, I mean you think of fighting games most people go We know exactly arguably Even though it's not as big these days they can arguably be like that game as well because everyone knows scorpion and sub-zero You know everyone's gonna do oh yeah, I can that game.
It's just it's such a different mechanic that is not as popular It's a harder game. I think this is like different But okay, so think about for instance like fast and furious it came out in like the early 2000s and if you look at it now It's almost like cheesy by comparison first one. Yeah, well, yeah, you know But it's because it was like the first like since then there's been other movies who have tried to like take a shot at the Drone, you know Jesse Pinkman was in one. Oh, yeah, like where they're they're trying to break into that place But it's like fast and furious just stays it has that staying power maybe because it was the first I don't know and I wonder if Street Fighter has some of that.
Yeah No, yeah, Street Fighter wasn't a break was well, you know, I mean I'm not talking just I Mean she thought it was pretty old people forget that even existed you know people just go shoot there to you know I mean yeah, it's awful dude. I found someone that was selling the cabinet. Yeah game Street Fire 2 yeah I was like super distant deluxe. Oh, yeah, the super super super super super too.
Whatever Good man, what do you yeah game stopping selling like mini cabinets right now? They're like not a full cabinet about like half the size But it's still a full-blown usable cabinet and you can select it in different games I've got like Marvel and they've got a whole Street Fighter is kind of cool. I thought that was actually interesting That'd be sick. Oh, really cool.
I mean don't forget about Marvel too. Also, that was a huge staple in the cabinet Captain that's too. I mean that started to I mean look at J-1 one of the best players around that's right That's where he started was Marvel 2 in an arcade and then he was like, no, I really want to compete in this and he was traveling I think like the age of 15 is gonna plane 14 15 I'm gonna play myself I think he told a story where like he snuck out of his house You know what in bottom plane ticket flew over the weekend to go play tournament and fly back without his parents knowing Yeah, there was another podcast that I was to call cake bites and she interviews people Different people from the video game around what she or podcast about video game history starts beginning to different types of games But she also interviews professional so she got any mentality on there. Oh, yeah, yeah Yeah, he did the same thing.
I think young age like Dermint and yeah, it's crazy I mean and even players these pros when you get to that pro level there's people who hate there's some of these games of champ He hates Street Fighter 5, but it's a job. Yeah, he hates it. He hates that game, but he's good I mean, he plays I'm sure he enjoys it to an extent. Let's be honest I mean he chose fighting games as a profession at this point So there's something in him that keeps him playing regardless You know cuz they say he can't just drop it find something else's career wise young still young guy So something in him still drives in the play, but he definitely tweets out, you know f this game Confresh going this up and all kinds of stuff.
I mean he's definitely he's one of those players who likes to voice was on his mind But there's something in him that keeps him there, you know, well So what was the highlights of your like you personally that's evil in general overall right? What was yours? I was just gonna ask like taking dragon will fighters for instance It's just another game that really like stormed onto the scene Well, so here's the thing about this. I want to talk about here's thing about this Dragon Ball fighters is considered anime fighters.
So they set the categorizes. There's your normal fighters Okay, then you've got like Smash Brothers the platform game, you know The platform party game they call it, you know, and then you've got these anime fighters who out of nowhere is like super popular I mean even I'm I play more enemy fighters than I do any other game right now really Yeah, I mean it wasn't blue blayton. I'm not a blay blue cross tag right now. It's guilty gear.
I just pick up guilty gear I got a copy on playing it. I mean it's one star plane drag I think drag a ball unlock something I think they were really popular don't get it wrong blay blue was pretty popular and Guilty game was probably the popular but dragon ball attracted Marvel players some Street Fighter players even a bunch of smash community players They all jumped on the back and I'm playing dragon ball, right? I guess now I got the right term, but they all jump down right and then now these other these other enemies I mean evo was three anime games evo was only seven games almost half of the games. They had a random fighters Oh, and they're fun.
I was like, you know, I was like, you know, at first I'll play blue stupid dude I played it. I had the time of my life. They're freaking fun. So these they're like yeah I stream played blue blue dragon ball the most right now.
Yeah, but looks and yeah, they're fun man It's just something bad. It was like that one that key in peels kit where he shake all the hands of all like the fighters that are good And then the crappy fighters walking away from towards the end there He's like hugging all the anime fighters. You know from the bottom now we're here like they're here dude. They took evo It's key and peel it's their skin.
Well the original one is Obama Yeah, Obama hugging and getting like props all the black dudes Yeah, he's like Martha And then the next person is a black person Yeah, he walks up and gives like Street Fighter 4 like a big old hug Oh Smash me like He goes off on because melee is like the underdog of like evil like it brought in so many people It was crazy. It was like no one expected that from when it first entered and ever since then it's just been nothing but popular I saw O-locks post that you had to repost it on to the painting. Yeah, it was so funny Baby Great great great But yes on that I mean let's go but evil highlights man I go over like I got my personal but my friend highlights now because a lot of the pro players have been grand finals was high I've obviously pro players. We both cosplayed actually I supposed to picture the opinion I didn't we cosplay I went as dr. Doom and in the Diego when it's Phoenix right the reason being is because Marvel wasn't at evil So we as Marvel characters Marvel's have come cultures and our signs were protesting that Marvel wasn't there So mine said winds foot died because everyone who plays Marvel knows it dooms got the most popular foot dive move What I'm even you can do it like a million times Phoenix right is just all about justice So Diego signs and winds justice and mine said winds foot died and we didn't we go back with everybody mo he dressed up his dock from Mario okay Remember me now, and I don't think we get a lot.
He's a little contest who gets the most pictures He walked away with I mean, I remember exactly 1520 pictures me Diego as a partner together Like they made us stand together and get pictures we walked away easily about like 160 pictures man It was not we were stopping eventually the group of friends stopped walking with us because we were being stopped like every 10 feet man It was crazy. It was kind of exhausting actually Diligence yes, I'm gonna walk up on she's like best costume all day. Do you know? Oh, I think it's been about like a grandson's costume Shut up to him, but um, so since we walk in it was cool because a really big drag-able Z player hooking God He had just won the summon of power tournament he came up out of nowhere I mean he was a nobody knew him to he's a top player.
It was cool He walked in was excited to see us at first. He was like, you know Phoenix right? That's awesome Oh, dude hooking God was so good to see like us dress up So that was cool and we got to run into again and we got pictures with him and talked to him for a minute He was a super cool dude. I used to use the Vegeta. That was right. It wasn't as good But it wasn't what I wanted to do with the team. So I had already been playing Goku blacks in the beginning You're gonna go on the day one.

I like the damage that she could put out So I just you know I thought really comfortable with it. She has good assist with with what's his face.
So no not sell her assist is really good The ball the energy ball. Okay. I think every single time that you popped in on you when I transported behind your Try to get you. Yeah, she does cover the vanish.
Yeah, but what it really does to for sell is I actually got to get past out now But it was if you did the perfect attack with so and you called her assist It reset blocks done so blocks done is when you're getting hit your character is stuck in the animation of blocking And you want to keep them there to try and get open them up, you know trick them into blocking incorrectly So when you reset the blocks done it can cause for a cross-up because sometimes if you're in a block done There's there's a cross-up protection and things like that on certain moves So if you did a perfect attack with cell he teleports a three times and then so she comes out hit you with the ball But her blocks done was so little on the ball that sells a second attack when he comes down It's resetting blocks done so now it's a cross-up. It sounds like a different language You're really really weird. I think it's gone now, but I suck at using it. I'm not really bad But now is that I have the group of friends that you mean like Out of the group friends all right, he's actually not playing so anymore really right Yeah, I switched the rocket league and then back to overwatch and I've been playing spidey for the last time man I know I wasn't that bad.

I don't know if you guys I know you Jason asked Jason I video you after the moments what were some of the moments that stuck out to you notice We'll need the games if you it's been a while since I've myself been like hardcore into fighting games Like Dragon Ball fighters kind of like brought me back in for a little bit like sparks that but I just didn't have enough time to like Invest to the level of everyone else definitely investment for sure.
Yeah, and so I think more than anything watching through that video It just interested me seeing the different games and what each game brings to the table and it just made me curious like Why are different things? Why do they stay popular or why they popular for a moment? Like for instance Tekken another game That's been around since the early days, you know, you know first 3d games, right? It's funny seeing how although the graphics are 10 times more beautiful the watching the gameplay the fighting mechanics I mean at least from a observing point.
I don't know so much from a controller in your hands point Right, but it still looks really kind of similar and compared to some of these games now They're so hyper kinetic like everything's happening on the screen at once It just seems like Tekken is very like calculated. It's definitely not another level I mean, it's way crazy. I mean the way you block is do nothing You just stand there and then your character will block for you. There's no holding back So that's another thing that stands out It's a I mean this is a lot to it We have weak sides to them since it's a three-day 3d game So you can you know certain characters like oh, I know this guy just got a week left side So I want to sign that to his left from off and to take advantage of that Okay I mean each limb has a button it's left punch right punch left kick right kick The move list for a character is literally in the hundreds like a hundred or more moves.
It's a lot of stuff Yeah, it's really in depth really in depth, but man, it's when you when you're watching it You know what's happening? It's one of the best things to watch from a viewers point It's really really really fun, which makes me to evil which the Tekken top eight was probably Probably the best topic. I mean it was really really good. There were good upsets I mean you had a panda player panda's close to one of the worst in the game And he was doing really well.
You had the only American representative little margin Yeah, no one expecting them to get that far and not only that he beat JDCR He's arguably like the number one Tekken player. I mean him and like saying a couple guys, but JDCR is ridiculous I think he won last year. So he's like he's really really good and so I want to know like one of the rounds He's like perfect him, right? Yeah, he did get a perfect on JCR.
No, it was just yeah It was really cool and to stand there and chant USA for this guy. Yeah, but it take out JCR It was really really exciting. I mean that was so fun. That's a cool moment.
Yeah, second topic was really good I mean even one of the comments here is like I'm sorry I'm French a little margin. I'm about to be biased like this guy needs to win and even when little margin finally lost He was just kind of like the announcer was like, oh man I know what time we wanted but you know, let's continue on But man, it was really exciting that was a really good topic. I was fun and Dragon Ball was also good for a moment It was weird the first half of topic was really great. I mean we had a player USA player there.

It was like Anakin Skywalker from episode one Like it's working. Yeah Dude it was nice it was super cool, and then definitely drag up all the grand finals super controversial because of the coin flip I don't think it's all that but the reason I had to switch seats right so what happened there was When you see it you before the match you can coin flip for first player or second player side That's a totally a thing. Why wouldn't it keep going through?
