Although, when it came to playing music himself, country music wasn’t at the top of the list. Tenpenny started a band with friends in high school that revolved around heavy metal and rock. When asked what caused the transition from boy band to country pop he explained that his mother broke down in tears after listening to an acoustic version of a song he wrote and quickly joked about how maybe he should write songs that other people besides himself enjoyed. The rest is history - Tenpenny became a household country artist after hits like, “Bitches,” “Alcohol You Later,” and “Drunk Me.” Enjoy the show!
