And we have a great, helpful and sobering episode for you today. Dr. Bradford Vivian is a professor in the Department of Communication Arts and Sciences at Pennsylvania State University. His research and teaching focuses on theories of rhetoric (or the art of persuasion) and public controversies over collective memories of past events. Vivian is the author of four books;  Campus Misinformation: The Real Threat to Free Speech in American Higher Education, Commonplace Witnessing: Rhetorical Invention, Historical Remembrance and Public Culture, Public Forgetting: The Rhetoric and Politics of Beginning Again and Being Made Strange: Rhetoric beyond Representation. He is on the show today to discuss his article recently published on Inside Higher Ed entitled The Roots of Anti-University Rhetoric. This conversation focuses on current events and movements in relationship to higher education and the current narratives that are weaponized against it.
