Well, this is new. This is new. I mean, this is different. I feel like, honestly, I feel like this is a little bit better.

You know, I don't have to deal with setting up my side because you're already all good and set up. You thought I was going to have to deal with you ugly face, huh? Yeah, I was already, I was waiting for the jump there. There's a jump.

No, I'm just kidding. Welcome back to Talking Nonsense. I'm your host Kyle and I'm here with Chris for and we're doing this social distancing thing. Where are you?

That's weird. Yeah, you know, because it's fucking COVID, right guys? Yeah. I mean, hopefully by the time this comes out, COVID still a thing because I know we've been slacking on our shit.

So who knows when this is going to come out? Probably next year when COVID is all over. Who knows? But yes, what are we going on for today, Chris?

Well, I think it's time we address the old cancel culture bit or whatnot. Give me a quick second here. Sorry. Oh my God.

So cancel culture, huh? Yeah. All right. So what is it?

Why don't you explain to her, listen, what it is first for those of you that don't know about canceled before they do? No. Well, basically what I understand is when I guess usually like a celebrity or like someone famous, like has done or said something wrong or is doing something wrong and then basically runs like we don't like that person. So right.

I guess they drop out of the limelight and like that's kind of the end of it, I guess, is what I seem to understand. But I mean, in basic terms, yeah, it's sort of just kind of like the popular practice of withdrawing support or canceling public figures and getting any companies or whatever that they have after they have like done or said something considered detectable or offensive. Yeah. Like for example, one of the most recent ones that comes off my head at least is like a whole Goya products.

I don't know if you know what those are. There's a Goya, right? Is that the chocolate? No, no, it's the Mexican products.

Mexican products? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Because they did a thing with like Donald Trump, right?

Or like the CEO like donated funds to his campaign or something. Yeah, right. Sorry. Wreck it was kind of explaining what Goya.

Can you say that one more time? I don't think the people heard you. Everybody. So Goya is actually just like a commodity producer kind of so they would like can beans, they can corn, they can hold on to different commodities and they also specialize in spices, primarily Mexican spices.

Right. So it's primarily the company is primarily focused to appease those of the Mexican culture. Right. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but it's owned by someone who's letting, right?

Yeah. Immigrant. Immigrant worker? Yeah.

So they're already said to Dell is, or Chris, sorry. Because they donated to the Trump administration. By partisans, so they don't. Right.

She has a very, they are. So they are part of partisans, so meaning that they are kind of like not non by partisan. I don't know how to say non by partisan. By partisan.

What's by partisan? So typically usually by partisan means like they're, it's usually both Republican and Democrats like, right? They go for both parties. Yeah.

So they mainly folk when they donate money, they mainly donate it. So like programs that focus on the Latin community or immigration and things like that, those outreaches can still be sustainable to those who are in need of it. So they usually donate to whoever's in office so that they can focus and they have money to supplement these programs. Right.

So obviously everyone here knows that Trump, whether you want to believe it or not, you know, is not the greatest of people and probably not one of our best presidents ever. So that's why a lot of people were like, oh, Goya donated to Trump, cancel Goya, like fuck them because they support a guy who is fucking evil and blah, blah, blah, blah, or whatever. So like a lot of people were taking all their products that they've already bought from Goya and like throwing it out or like, you know, going to social media and saying like, oh boy, caught them. Don't buy their products.

Blah, blah, blah. So like, I don't know, like, well, how do you feel about that? Just off the top of your head. I mean, like, I can understand the reasoning of wanting to boycott something like that or like wanting to kind of contribute to that company by through like boycotting their commodities and stuff.

But like in this specific case, if people are throwing away food, like that, I feel like that's just kind of idiotic in a sense. Right. Because I mean, you know, it's food like if you're really not going to eat it, donate it, you know, yeah, you know, I don't know. I just feel like, look, I don't, I didn't go into too much depth or research into what exactly happened or what they donated to or what they're for or whatever.

But I mean, Rebecca, you know, she knows this company because it's kind of her field of culture and all that stuff. So she knows what they've done before, stuff like that. And it's, you know, if they are, if they are what she says they are like bipartisan, if they donate to whoever's in office, it's like, I just don't get the whole cancel culture as a whole, like going straight to canceling someone just because they believe in one thing or not. It's like, dude, is that really going to affect you in such a way that you have to be like, nope, never going to buy from them ever again.

It's like, but they make products for everybody, you know, and it's like, sure, they donated to Trump, but yeah. I mean, all that note, right? If they are bipartisan, like you said, and if they happen to donate to like, they donated to Obama, I really don't know. Like, obviously I didn't research the whole, like, track record of their donations, but even if they didn't, right?

Even if they were suddenly like, oh, like, we like Trump, right? I mean, that kind of leads to the question of, like, are you allowed to like, part of something or someone if their overall, like, negative image or if their overall image is like negative, you know what I mean? Like, yeah, because if it's going to end all, if it's going to be a type of like, end all be all kind of situation, then like, I mean, why are people still buying Nike? And Nike employees, like what?

Child workers in China or like, sweatshops in China? Just to produce all their goods or whatever? Like, that's been known, that's been proven, right? Right.

And yeah, people are still buying their shit. Yeah. So is it that you like what Nike stands for, which is like, which could be like racial equality and all this other stuff? And it's like, okay, you like that, but then you're blatantly ignoring the fact that they have sweatshops in China, right?

Like, if that logic prevails, then I think it's fair to like, like, like, like, or like things about Trump, but not necessarily like him as a whole. Right. Exactly. It's kind of like, I mean, we, I've talked to this, or I've talked to this point a lot with, you know, Rebecca here, look, is Trump the best president?

Fuck no. You know, I mean, is he a bad person? Yeah, pretty much. But like, has he done things that has probably helped people while doing his presence?

Yeah, probably, right? Yeah. But you know, honestly, me personally, at least, you know, I haven't felt it, you know, as him being president for these past four years now or whatever, like, I'm still okay. I'm still good, you know, from the front.

I know people are going to be like, dude, like, oh, he's doing all this other shit. Oh, like, I get that. But that's also why people vote, right? I understand the whole needs of oh, and vote him out, but it's not like canceling.

I mean, I don't know. I just feel like canceling people to the point of like going to products and shit like that is a little extreme to me. Yeah. No, for sure.

I think a whole byproduct of the whole like cancel culture thing is the fact that you're no longer allowed to disagree with the status quo. Like if the status quo is like, oh, we generally, like, the consensus is like this person be a Donald Trump, whoever, right? If the consensus is this person's terrible and you like them, you support everything they do. Right.

That's such a blanketed statement. It's a backwards way of thinking, honestly. Yeah, no, for sure. You know, and it's almost kind of like, I can't transition to that.

Go ahead, keep talking. Okay. No, but it's like it's so blanketed in. It's like on the very same side though, like people are you like, oh, yeah, look at the details and things like that, right?

Yeah. Well, like if you're going to do that, then you can't like also like cancel someone based on the overall consensus, I guess, you know what I mean? Like, you know, I'm not cutting out. I'm just stuttering.

Yeah, I know. Yeah. No, like again, it's just one of those you kind of have to not figure out for yourself, but like kind of educate yourself and just kind of taking the facts as they are or see what facts are. Yeah.

Basically, right? And if you do end up like agreeing with a general consensus, that's fine. Yeah, we're not saying that's wrong either. You know, like I wholeheartedly agree that Trump is a terrible person.

But as a president, I'm not like, oh, fuck him for sure. Like a lot of the shit that he has done and that has been protested over the music, all the bad stuff, of course, totally disagree with, you know, I mean, like, you know, I'm for, I agree with what they're saying. Like he's a bad person. But I'm not to the extent of like, fuck him for life, anybody that likes him, fuck them, blah, blah, blah, you know, and like that's the part that I don't like about cancel culture.

It's just all these people that like see one thing and then they all just get together like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, fuck him. You know, like, for example, I know people who like this whole fucking year, you know, like the whole Trump presidency, the quarantine, all this shit definitely brought out like the ugly side of a lot of people. Like, people who have like deleted other people just because they support Trump and I'm just like, really? Yeah.

Yeah. And see, that's one of the byproducts of this whole like cancel culture thing is just, it's led to like online shaming. You know, it's just like, it's one of those, uh, it's okay to shame people now for having it like an unpopular opinion, even if it's like factually wrong, right? Yeah.

Like, like flat earthers, like I've dragged on them in the past for sure. And do I think they're stupid? Wholeheartedly agree. But like, if it honestly came down to it and I met a flat earther and they wanted to like genuinely discuss it, I honestly would have to like sit down and be like, aren't sure, like, am I probably going to switch my opinion?

Probably not just because of science and stuff. But like, again, like if someone believed it though and they wanted to have a general discussion, yeah, I'm all for it because like, shaming people like that or shaming people who have an unpopular opinion just leads to everyone not thinking differently. And there's no progress that way either as an individual or as a society, in all honesty. Yeah, I agree.

I remember saying this, uh, Instagram post, it was like a video and like these people were following this car that was like holding a big ass fucking flag that said like Trump 2020, or whatever, like out there window like out of the driver's seat. It was like a kid, it was like probably like 20 years old or something, right? The one I was holding the flag. And then the car, the people that were recording the video drive by the car and like the dude's like, custom amount like, hey, fuck you, fuck Trump, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, right?

But then the Trump supporter was like, hey, like, like he drive past him and they come up to stop by and then the guy comes up right next to him. And he generally says like, hey, you know, if you guys don't have a conversation on it, like let's go grab a beer or whatever. You know, like let's talk about why I like Trump and the fucking dude's recording like, no, fuck you. It's like, dude, at least he was at least fucking trying to tell you why he thinks Trump is good.

You know what I mean? You just blatantly said like, fuck him. And I think that's stupid. No, for sure.

Hardly. Like, and you know, some people are like, or like that, they're just so set in what they believe in that they're not willing to come to the table. And I think overall that's one of the biggest issues of this year or at least of this whole political season, right? Is that no one's really willing to come to the table anymore?

And you see it all over Capitol Hill, like the whole like stimulus relief package that they've been talking about since what, like when was the first one that came out? Like, did you know something? Like, not the first one didn't come out to like March. March?

Yeah. So like, they've always been talking about a second one, but they keep arguing. Yeah. Yeah, stupid.

And like, kind of just backtrack a little bit. You know, we're not saying one side does this always. Both sides do this. You know what I mean?

Oh, yeah. Everybody on whoever side does this thing, shit, there's people on Trump side that like won't listen to the Democrats or try to reason with like why Trump's a bad person. They just whole hardly agree. He's not.

And then there's those who do want to have a discussion and then possibly open up their eyes and be like, you know what? He is a bad person or whatever. But it's just like, I do believe that there's high radicals on both sides. Like, and I don't know.

I just feel it's wrong. No, it's no, definitely is wrong, especially because like, this is like, not to get like, this is transcending into like, everyday life now, like not even politics, right? Like, yeah. Like, the whole, I mean, I don't know if I want to say this because it's kind of spicy.

Say it. So I saw this like, I saw an article on like the news app for your on the iPhone. I didn't read it, but like there was a picture. It's always like that, right?

Like I saw the title did read it, but yeah, well, I mean, I probably should have read it, but there was a picture on there. Like, where, like, you know, they're protesting and they have this, they had the sign up that said like, white silence equals like white consent. And like that, like that, I feel, I feel hardly disagree with that. Like, choosing to like, choosing to not speak is okay.

Like, that's an okay thing to do. Yeah. Like, there's a quote where, you know, I mean, Google it. So yeah, it's a play to quote where it's wise men speak because they have something to say, fools because they have to say something.

And it's like that. If you really, if you really want to get your opinion out there in a constructive and meaningful way, you have to be willing to come to the table and making like, blanket same, it's like white silence equals white consent. Like that's wholeheartedly unfair. Like, if we're going to go by that logic, then like, what are we just going to punish every single white person for what their forefathers may or may not have done, you know?

Like, and yeah, even on that logic, like, we all agree, like, if a girl's at a party, right, or if anyone's at a party and they don't give us, and if they don't say no, that's not exactly giving consent either. So if we're going to have that kind of logic, how can we apply that or how can we completely ignore that kind of logic on a grander scale like this one, you know? Yeah. Yeah, I truly agree with that because, you know, there's like, with the whole, just everything this fucking year, man, like, what's ever an issue comes up.

And like, let's say, for example, someone on your friend list is posting about it, right? Sharing it and trying to get the information out there. That's totally fine. But then as soon as they see that, do you like, saw their story or didn't share it or aren't sharing anything, they're like, oh, like, why aren't you, do, do, do, do that?

It's like, because I don't want to say anything. Like, I don't have anything to say on the matter right now. You know what I mean? And they're always just like, oh, so you support it?

It's like, oh, dude, because I'm not. I don't know what's for me yet. So, no, it hasn't actually done. No, it hasn't particularly happened to me, but like, it has happened to some people that I know, like, for example, you know, someone posted something, like information or whatever, and then someone replied to them saying like, or hold on, let me check, make sure my facts are right.

Fact checking. Remember how I like, you would post something and then someone would kind of like, uh, correct you on it and then it's like, okay, fine, I'll post anything and then what can you do? It doesn't mean to be like, I mean, I'll post something like, no, this just happened to like, Rebecca, like, she'll post something and then like, it wasn't, maybe it wasn't factually right or whatever. So someone was like, what?

The whole block of white pictures have been, like, a pyramid. Oh, right, right, yeah. So I know you haven't been on social media for a while, but there was like a movement going on on Instagram where like, you know, females would post a black and white photo of themselves, right? Yeah, I saw some of this, yeah.

Yeah, with like, hashtag challenge accepted hashtag, like, women empowerment or whatever, right? Yeah. And like, hell, people are posting it. Okay.

Like, I saw a lot of like my female friends on Instagram posted or whatever, and then all of a sudden, I was like, backlash on it because the people that were posting it, it had to deal with like, educating them, like, they didn't know why they're posting it or whatever. So people were, yeah, like, why the trend started, like, supposedly the trend started to bring awareness to like, what was going on in, um, what was that? Some country where like, women are literally murdered, like constantly or whatever, right? So it's like, to bring awareness to that.

And then other people thought it was like, Oh, I just posted it because, you know, I thought we were empowering women or whatever. And then like, people were getting bashed for that. Like, Oh, you're dumbed at whatever. So it's like, okay, fine.

And I won't post it. And then like, when someone like doesn't post it, you know, or they're like, oh, why aren't you posted? You want me not to post it? Like, I, you know what I mean?

Like, I see, and I think, again, like, I think one of the byproducts of the whole, not even just cancel culture, but just the whole access to like, technology is that, like, people expect other people to fully understand everything that they're doing, but it's like, that's just unrealistic, you know? Yeah. And that's why I'll go ahead. Yeah.

And like, even like, in that situation where like, they're just posting it because they thought they were empowering women, right? Yeah. Like, that type of misinformation, like, is it really that like detrimental? Doesn't the intention matter just as much as the result?

Right. Yeah. I mean, honestly, it brought because of that. I mean, now we know like, oh, it was about that.

Okay. It brought awareness to us either way. You know what I mean? So now.

No, for sure. I mean, I don't know, man, like, I'm so glad I'm off social media just because I feel like a lot of people are doing this where they're doing the cancel culture, like, for sure. Yeah. Where the, I think part of the whole cancel culture thing that people do use the, like, they'll post something very like, like challenging, like, oh, like, if you're a conservative, like, blah, blah, blah.

Or, no, it's bad example. I don't know. Or was that thing, or one of our relatives posted where it was like, uh, which one? It was like, uh, something, I think it was something about like abortion, like, you know, like, like abortion is like murder or something.

Yeah. Like, like, prove me wrong or something. No, it was more so in a sense of abortion. Is it murder?

I'll argue with anybody. Yeah. Just I think thinking about, you know. So you're saying, like, yes, they agree with right?

They cannot go Phillip. You don't think that's gonna come to you like, it's not not good. But I don't... I'm in there, I'm in there, they're in there, right?

Of course, I'll come to you, what, you know, see? Because I will come up and ask you all about how to stay in that way just about how to connect to woman. Cause at least even if you feel like real. And when you're in here, it's, and like, in here, and you are saying so much better, I don't think when you're not in peace.

Wait, I know, youussy probably might be in clean. To other patients who're in TED, and were, um, particularly helping me, like, we don't Hey, you're dumb because you believe this but really it's this there's no here's why it's like wait wait hold on No, let's talk about this or something. No, no, you're dumb. You're dumb.

It's like no It's like let's talk like that whole bit. It's just like that doesn't make sense to me. Yeah, I mean Yeah, no, I agree and it does it and then I don't know it's just I The I mean one of the main reasons why I wanted to kind of talk about this topic is just because of the fact that I do see a lot of people kind of Unfriendly or not becoming friends with someone or any friendship just because I'm leaving something and I'm just like why are you doing that? Why don't you just as a human being know that they have an opinion and that their opinion doesn't matter to you?

Like if they believe in one thing let them believe in it or if you don't want them to believe in that then educate them on it You know, I mean like like I said I know some people who like deleted people off Facebook because they support Trump or because they were saying racist shit And it's just like okay Well, then if you really don't like what they're doing maybe talk to them, you know I'll be like hey look I know you support Trump, but maybe here's some reasons why you shouldn't you know or whatever or like Hey, I know you think that what you said not racist But like hey here's some reasons why it was you said just like nope They said it I can't deal with them whatever because like realistically you're doing the same shit Then you know, I mean like if you're if you're not gonna be friends I'm not trying to justify racism or anything like to that extent But I'm just saying but if you're not going to like educate someone on their dumbass shit And then just delete them aren't you kind of doing the same thing that they're doing? You know, I mean like if someone is racist their race is because they don't want to learn the culture or like appreciate a culture Or whatever, right? So the fact that you're gonna delete your racist friend aren't you doing it because you don't want to respect their Whatever, I mean, I'm not saying respect racist, you know, I'm just saying like it's the same shit guys. Yeah, I believe it's the same shit No, like yeah, that logic applies and I feel like people in like you having to that extent though, right?

It's just all all be doubles-added to get right. Yeah, go for it like I can understand like some of the reasons why I got off of social media was just because Man like this started a while ago, but basically everyone's there was no particular incident. I mean like oh like I want to get off So for me, but I'm a political science major And I do see like a lot of like misinformation out there about like Democrats and Republicans and like politics and like things like that There's like a lot of misinformation out there and it's a lot a lot of people just reposting something because oh their friend Oh, my friends like somewhere like has a similar thought as I do so I'm gonna repost it or like this is something I agree with yeah Again whether that's actually right or wrong The reason why I got off of that though was um just I forgot where I was going with this Bring it back bring it back. What was the last thing you said?

Like I don't know run the tapes team can we? We have a real room here. Um, we were just talking about how people don't you know when they go directly to cancel culture on something and sort of like It's like the same shit or like for example when someone's racist and you're gonna delete that for being racist without even talking to them first or It's like why are educating them and it's like she doing the same shit. Yeah.

No for sure. That's why I wanted to get to you was like You kind of have to like reflect right you kind of have to be like well If no one's gonna come to the table and I don't come to the table nothing's gonna get better right doesn't matter what you believe in Doesn't matter if you're a publican Democrat liberal apolitical or whatever it's actual bisexual whatever Yeah, any like like life situation if no one's really willing to understand each other. Yeah, then you might as well just like beat the living Fuck out of each other. Yeah, I mean, yeah, yeah, cuz that's what's gonna happen You know like that's why we that's why wars were fought was because people had a disagreement.

No one was willing to come to the table Yeah, you know Yeah, I agree and then um kind of going on to that point or whatever like Educating people are What Wasn't your whole point? No, sorry. I'll go ahead. No, cuz you're talking about like how people were moving other people, right?

Yeah, I was gonna play that was like yeah, like it seeing the misinformation out there can get frustrating right especially No one's like reflecting right. Yeah, so and then to just tie that in with what I said earlier gotcha So you're playing exactly like well, listen Kyle maybe they're deleting them because they have tried and it didn't work I get that I get that I was also gonna bring to the point where I actually have I know someone again who He's having friends it is actually You know they're they're very how do you say this? They like to play devil's advocate a lot as well like they believe in one thing But aren't afraid to hear discussion of the other thing that they don't believe in or like yeah, or like you know They're not afraid to have a discussion with somebody but like it got to a point where they literally posted it I remember seeing a status from them saying like you know what? I'm really considering like deleting Facebook because no one wants to have a discussion anymore like no one cares or whatever They just go straight to the fucking blame game or to cussing out or being racist or whatever you know I mean it's just like yeah, you know like if it's gone to that point Then yeah, I totally get deleting someone but to kind of go back to people that I know who had to leave someone I don't believe that they got to that point like I don't believe that they tried Yeah, they just did it just I don't agree with like if you're not gonna try and then you delete them then like no That's stupid at least try and then if you try it and it didn't work by all means delete them.

I try again Why don't you listen to me no You know comment on like your one friend who like wanted the office book I mean honestly think Facebook's one of the worst platforms you could ever have a discussion on Oh sure I mean you could just be like Someone else I know that just goes around commenting on Trump post saying like you're stupid like your president's dumb And you're dumb. I know that does this. Huh? I need some friends.

No, but I was gonna say whoever you know that does that need some friends Oh, oh Yeah, I don't like it's like never gonna go No, it's it's not like to me. I find it comical Does this you know I mean like it's funny at me at the same time. It is kind of dangerous. I'm like I should have told me to stop Like what do you mean?

I'm like stop posting that shit or whatever because it's not Yeah, just stop or whatever because I screenshot a couple of them to and they're fucking hilarious. Hold on. I'm trying to pull them up right now Yeah, I can't wait I can't wait never mind No here I'll read one for our listeners to think so there is like a post about Trump or whatever or not I don't think it was about Trump I think it was about somebody else like from the Democratic side and then someone commented on it saying I truly can't understand Herr'sler words and then You know why you said that because you were just like your idiot president And then like another one like this was the natural Trump poster ever like Trump advocating for wearing masks someone posted They're like he's playing it smart. There's a method to his madness and then Your president is a sore loser idiot stupid You know sometimes there's people like that though.

I'm like, you know what? Yes, call them stupid It's gonna happen. We just totally contradict ourselves earlier. No, no, I know but I mean like little things But that's why I stopped though cuz you know comes to the point where it's like, okay, you're not adding anything at this point Yeah, it was funny.

It was funny at first. Okay. Now you're just just stop. It's time to stop.

Yeah. No, I mean, I don't mean like Just I mean, I think the fact that people are just stuck at home to you like It's also just like contributing. I think a lot of people are going crazy Because it's just like oh, what do I do when I'm at home? Like I can't obviously I can't work right now.

Yeah, so like I'm gonna go on Facebook I'm going social media and then they just see all that stuff. It's just such an overload of information It's just an overload of opinions, right? Mm-hmm like and It's just it's hard not to respond when you believe something so strongly to yeah, that's another other thing to people need to take that passion of them believing in something And instead of just getting angry at someone for like being on the opposite be like well Here's why I think I'm right and then like have a discussion like we talked about, you know Like all I was just all people didn't sit down and come to the table and talk talk things out Yeah, and then like let's let's try to bring it away a little bit for a moment here away from politics And let's just go into cancel culture when it comes to like celebrities You know like there's been a lot of those like some let's throw in for example comedian celebrities who have said dumb shit in the past I'm racist in the past and like people have found him brought it up and they're like oh he said this or she said this like Yeah, like canceled them like what do you think about that? I mean See I don't like that's kind of like Okay, so let's break it down quick if you're talking about like comedians, right?

Like the one example in a reference is like when Kevin Hart made a bunch of like I don't know if he tweeted it or he made a bunch of like jokes on stage But like you know people who are like homosexual one stuff, right? Oh like I don't want to say at the time it was okay cuz I don't think it's ever okay to make fun of somebody like that Right, what I mean if it was at a show right? It's a comic it's a joke. I'm pretty sure Kevin Hart doesn't actually like hate gay people.

Yeah, you know and I mean so like with comics and stuff man like It kind of feeds into itself I feel like cuz it like I feel like a really good comic wouldn't shy away from any certain topic But then again just because of cancel culture and stuff like that, you know It's really leading to this very niche like array of like topics that people like that they can like have content about right? Mm-hmm And I mean now like kind of straight away from the whole joking thing like comics and do stuff outside of that that are terrible Like Louie CK and like Cristo Ea like that's not okay in general or at all So I mean like that I get you know, yeah, I mean But I mean it's one thing to like blast Cristo Lea or like Louie CK yeah, and then it's another thing to like blast someone for like liking their like shows or whatever You know just because again, you like that particular comic doesn't mean you're at least I'm not at least I would like to think I'm not advocating or like approving what they have done, you know, yeah I mean it kind of goes back to the very beginning of what you said like just because you Like don't say anything or just because you do like a certain someone doesn't mean you support everything They do or it doesn't mean you support the other side if you don't say anything, right? Yeah, so it's like I think Dave Chappelle says it best I mean, I don't know it word for word or whatever But like he talked about cancel culture and he too But thinks it's good like to go and cancel certain Comedians or celebrities on the past shit that they've done well I think specifically he was talking about comedians just because like, you know, Dave Chappelle this motherfucker will talk about anything Anything and he don't give a fuck and I don't care Yeah, I don't care that he does because I know wholeheartedly he is a fucking comedian and he is telling jokes Yeah, I mean like I'm not some sensitive ass pussy who's gonna be like, oh, no, I don't like that Cancel him. Yeah, not to say everyone's like that that cancels people what no for sure.

Let's just say they are No, I'm just kidding No, I agree with you like Bill Bird is a joke about like about like nothing like no reason to hit a woman he's like any he like Like you'll treat to find a video like online somewhere on YouTube, but there's a line in that he says or it's like I definitely I agree that it's to the fact that I definitely agree that you shouldn't hit a woman right But to say that there's no reason to not hit a woman is like the ego is insane There's a slight truth to that I suppose or no, no, it's like truth, but like I Think there's like there's an understanding that like you can feel like you want to strangle somebody because people get infuriated Yeah, like you smashed a brick on my finger like, you know, okay, first of all quit bringing that fucking story up You're about to cancel me already First of all we were kids second of all I wasn't doing it With the intent of hurting you I was doing it to see your level of intelligence clearly it wasn't that high I'm trying to get it. It's like there's like you can differentiate right between like right and wrong. Yeah, yeah Obviously you shouldn't hit people regardless if it's a man woman or child, right? Right?

But some everything again like he was telling a joke So I got off like was it a little ranching maybe it might not be your type of humor In fact you might even severely dislike it and you probably think he's like misogynist and stuff and it's okay, but Light all that negative information like imagery onto someone onto one of his hands just because they had like that particular joke like That's super unfair. Yeah. Yeah, I agree All right, I'll get give me a minute here I'm gonna listen to the steve ship helping real quick cuz I do want to talk about what he said cuz it's pretty funny So give me a second Well, I'm laughing on my well. I can't miss that you're talking.

Sorry. I'm still trying to get to the part. Oh my god It's a long thing. I'm almost there Okay, well I don't think this is the actual one but because he does talk about it a little bit more But the one that I found he was like at a show and he was looking at this couple in his audience He's like looking at the woman and she looks like You know he couldn't really tell what they were so he asked like oh man like where you from right?

And then I guess she took it kind of offensively Or whatever it was like and replied to him like condescendingly He was like I'm from California and then she was like or he was okay He looks to the husband or to the guy that she's with and then he's like totally like I'm Mexican bro Right, and then she goes if you're referring to my ethnicity I'm Chinese and then they should tell her response was like, okay, you know I was just curious because you guys are beautiful couple or whatever You know like when you when you guys have a baby or whatever is gonna beautiful And one thing I also know that's gonna be one of the hardest working babies ever And then I guess like the little bit was upset that like she Which would call it afterwards like sent a letter to his public say like don't book him for anything He was insensitive to my interracial marriage and then they should go if she had done her research You know that she would know that I too am in an interracial marriage Whatever like I'll go fuck like people were just too sensitive these days was basically like his whole consensus It was funny and it's true. I think people these days are too sensitive to be completely honest I think that's where this whole cancel culture comes from, you know People sensitivities he'd all agree. No, I agree to an extent. I think a lot of cancel culture to you has to do a lot with like Just access to like I would argue that it's not sensitivity.

It's more on like Just access to information and thinking that we're so privileged that we have to like Like get rid of everything right like objectively like we know like not to hit a woman That's why we can make those jokes right because we know we're gonna do it. Yeah, you know Not to say like again That's a joke around about like domestic abuse or anything like that But like like the whole bill birthing like or even Dave Chappelle like what he said about like you know that that interracial couple like we we know like we're not defined by As individuals, you know, we're not defined by like stereotypes. It might apply to us, but like that's not all we are right and I think cancel culture just It's I'm not cutting out. I'm staring again No guys, he's cutting out his internet's really bad No, I wouldn't say it's out of sensitivity I think it's out of the fact that we can disagree and because we have access to technology where we can let people know that we're disagreeing with it Mm-hmm.

It's just out there now in the ether. Yeah, you know, I mean like and partly because Sensitivity like you know, you don't like something by all means like take it out of your life shirt. Yeah, but you'll have to go on it Like a crusade and be like oh what do you say? Yeah, like you know, not true I agree with you as well.

I do believe that nowadays because there's so much more information out there and it's so easily accessible Everyone, you know are able to form their own opinions And there's nothing wrong with that, you know because they have so much more information now to do so, right? So it's like they can say whatever they want to say and argue whatever they want to argue But it's just the whole fact that like I just feel like you know when it comes to especially comedy in general like Old shows like Fresh Prince of the Lair or like Even like an old movie like Rush Hour like literally I remember watching Rush Hour the other day I'm like, you know on a rerun and they had to put the fucking warning in the beginning like this movie was made during a time We're like now some of the jokes won't be so acceptable, you know, I mean I'm just like really really I put that warning that to me is where I see that this people have become more sensitive You know, I mean like I thought they have to put that warning that's more so what I mean I agree like to both of the sense like I think people have become way more sensitive and it's just the fact that there's just more Regularly like information for them to like form their own opinions, which I'm not saying is a bad thing But yeah, yeah, I mean now like I think to be playing that was after getting right no motherfucking horse Do you do you think or can you cite your example when cancer culture is justified or? Or is it like just is it only like do I totally agree cancer culture is just stupid in general? I'm not super in general or like let's just say like I Got canceled.

Yeah, that's the thing so I know we're like saying our own opinions and cancer shit But to be clean unless you I don't know too many that have gone canceled because I just I just see like the you know The flash news is like oh, you know, everybody's throwing out go your pockets because of this or yeah Oh, we're canceling this meeting because he said this and I'm just like to me because I do believe like is it just If I did all them I don't know I just see it as like, uh, y'all are just Doing too much to like an eye opinion like I just be like hold on hold on. Let's not go straight to canceling them Let's do a research guys, you know, I mean by the same time to I'm not gonna fuck her that just sits in the background like I'll do your research I'm just gonna I just don't I don't like it in fault You know, I mean like I'm that person that doesn't post anything not to say that I don't believe in one thing or the other or whatever I support one thing or the other is just I I know my place in society. I guess you could say what is it is a No, I'm pretty sure how people listening to this like how you're kind of like contradicting yourself in so many ways I know I fucking am okay, but that's my opinion Yeah, also like just because you contradict yourself doesn't mean you're wrong. Yeah, like it shows that I know like I know my opinion Has value and the other people's opinion may or may not have value or you know I swear to remember not only that it's just like human beings are just complex in general I don't understand why people try to force this binary system of ones and zeros on us, right where you're either right or right wrong like right like there's so many variables in a given situation that it's probably impossible for one person to like Figure out figure it all out and come to the conclusion of I am wrong or I am right like we get to those conclusions Just through different reasons and through check different justifications or interestifications, you know, I feel like cancel culture Has taken that whole like oh, you're either right or right or wrong bit Mmm.

It's taking that whole thing because I'm accessing to like to technology has made it so widespread and so like It's basically viral, right? It's basically like its own virus. Yeah, like no pun intended like literally we say things now Things have gone viral like we never said that before You know and we used to do it with like popular videos your popular moments, right? Like oh this video went viral or this thing went viral well like I feel like now cancel culture has gone viral, you know Yeah, no, I agree Sorry, I'm also trying to read in a little bit more about cancel culture and whether or not it's justified I mean I just found this article real quick This is mainly more so unlike cancel culture with like celebrities and whatnot but like the whole fact that like I guess in this article Who was written by I don't know if I'm saying the name in this article only put that she was like she saw a post from Actress Gina Rodriguez, she posted a video to her Instagram story where she's singing along to song radio or not by the Fuji's or the right and in the song at the moment where they said Edward and she said it as well If you don't know Gina Rodriguez is not African American or not black right?

So she was like disgusted with it. She showed her friend. Oh my god Like look at this. She's she has no right to say that blah blah blah so which he replied like why do we expend so much energy Into some nobody when people are literally in cages, you know, I mean like if we like imagine if we spent every second getting upset because some celebrity was problematic or whatever When instead we could spend time calling out our state representatives and so forth and so forth So I guess in a sense of like celebrity cancel culture I think for the most part it's not so justified I just think that people I don't know if you're gonna want to cancel celebrity just because they said something stupid or whatever I don't think it's truly justified unless they truly like they did they fucking murdered somebody Now I think about I think Logan Paul deserves me canceled and like his brother.

That's true. Actually. Yeah. Yeah, okay, so I guess there's some There's some fucking term There's exceptions.

Yeah, there's always exceptions Like your taxes. There's always exceptions on your taxes, right, right? Exceptions you mean right whatever exceptions or exceptions Exceptions, oh fuck no, we don't know what the fuck we're talking about who listens to us anymore Yeah, but I don't know I guess overall hold on Sorry my fiance's talking on the phone right now guys, and I'm not sure if that can be picked up by the mic So I'm giving her a second here. Oh, you can hear it.

It makes people impatient How how you makes people like oh, they need to do this thing so let's cancel tomorrow. It's like I Don't think it makes people impatient, but well, that's a no time for discussion or another episode I'm just a very busy guy Chris. All right. I have things to do I have things to see people to do I'm kidding on that.

I don't know that we discussed I thought that's how it's always been you know like I run the show you buy dinner comment down below if you guys agree or just know I'm just kidding See my fiance agrees you heard it here first She's mad at you. Oh, he said you're biased babe because you're married to me or you're gonna be married to me She said I'll go fuck cancel with cancel Chris right?

I mean I'm gonna cancel what I'm like, I know I'm inevitable Now I just wanted to say it like overall Like hopefully you take from this episode if you've been listening if you if you were able to get through our fucking first 15 minutes of Stupid nonsense. I should be on your name If you're able to get through all that hopefully you you know you could agree you could disagree whatever because like I said everyone's opinion Like it's your opinion. We don't care.
