Episode 47 | Women of Color Fight Back!

African American Women are three times more likely to suffer from sarcoidosis than whites, and their sarcoidosis mortality rate is 13 times higher than Caucasians and 1.5 times higher than African American men. Why? What is going on with women of color that isn't happening in other groups?  Why are they having a harder time than everyone else.  There are multiple reasons, and the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research is hoping to get to the bottom of it.  FSR has created the Women of Color Patient Advisory Committee and the Women of Color Clinical Advisory Committee to address these concerns.  Starting in 2021 these patients, clinicians and researchers are going to be looking at what's behind these terrible outcomes for these women.
