Show Notes Episode 471: Danger Zone Part 2-The Day After WTH Movie Night: The Day After This week Host Dave Bledsoe hit the bottle because he was terrified by the memories of something he saw on television as a kid. (Sigmund and Sea Monsters, Sid and Marty Kroft were FREAKY!) On the show this week it is a WTH Movie Night, we talk about the movie that scared the shit of Generation X: 1983’s The Day After. Along the way we learn that someone was stupid enough to trust Dave enough to give him access to nuclear weapons. (He still has a plutonium core in his closet!) Then we dive right into the backstory of how ABC made a movie so scary an entire generation still freaks out when they think of it. (The same could be said of Jaws) We examine what it took to get the movie made in an era when television was more Love Boat than Masterpiece Theater. We talk about how the urban legend that says Ronald Reagan changed his nuclear policy because of this movie (Nope!) and the guy who REALLY thawed out the Cold War, Mikhail Gorbachev!
