Episode 48 Big Fat Pregnancy

from Aligned + Elevated with Dr. Allison Feldt · host Dr. Allison Feldt, PT, DPT

In Episode 48 of The Edmonds Moms Room podcast Dr. Allison sits down with Christina Hughes, M.Ed, ICCE, founder of Big Fat Pregnancy, a birth nerd and fat activist. They dive into the relation between fat shaming and medical care during pregnancy and postpartum. Christina shares her personal story of being a fat person who created a support system during pregnancy that allowed her to have a healthy unmedicated homebirth after being told that even before conceiving that pregnancy and birth would not come easily or safely for. Christina provides support to folks who may have internalized guilt or shame regarding their weight, who fear that they won't be able to achieve their dream delivery because of their size and creates a safe space for them to ask questions and create a birth plan and team that will support them without shame.
