10 years ago, Professor Peter Singer published the book, The Life You Can Save: Acting Now To End World Poverty. In this book, Singer argues that people in affluent countries have an ethical obligation to (at least make an effort to) save some of the poorest people in the world who are dying from totally preventable causes each day-- many of them under 5 years-old.
