Episode 49 - Guardians of the Galaxy

From the Marvel universe comes a new science-fiction comedy starring Chris Pratt as Peter Quill, aka Star Lord, a thieving bandit traveling through space in search of bounty and Top 40 Classic Rock. Quill steals a precious orb at the beginning of the film, unaware that it is actually sought-after by several different parties across the galaxy.  The evil Ronan sends an assassin named Gamora to recapture the orb, but she ends up joining Quill's crew, which will include a muscular creature named Drax, a tree-like being named Groot and a feisty raccoon named Rocket.  Together they form the Guardians of the Galaxy.  Phil was thoroughly charmed and entertained by the combination of humor, 70's arena rock and dazzling special effects.  He whole-heartedly recommends the film to anyone and everyone. Andrew, on the other hand, found himself saddened by the similarities between "GOTG" and every other recent Marvel film that has come out.  Have comic book movies become unimaginative rehashes of tried and true formulas?  Tune in to the discussion and see what you think.
