Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer (Ret.) saw it all as an intelligence operative during his decades of service in military intelligence throughout the ongoing War on Terror. Shaffer participated in Able Danger, an initiative which identified key players in the 911 attacks prior to that fateful day. In Afghanistan, Shaffer’s efforts to root out terrorists in neighboring Pakistan—where Osama bin Laden was ultimately found--were squelched by higher-ups. His work is recounted in his explosive NY Times bestseller, “Operation Dark Heart,” which raised the ire of the Department of Defense.
