Claire M. Zovko is founder of Sports Law Chat. In her legal work, she has assisted with sports law appeals and contractual matters for FIBA and WNBA players/agents/coaches, a sport federation (before the Court of Arbitration for Sport), Olympic athletes, and NCAA student-athletes. Zovko teaches the Globalization of Sport with ISDE (Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economía) at Columbia University and the University of Miami, has previously taught International and Comparative Sports Law at St. John's University, and Advanced Essay Writing at Ave Maria School of Law. Additionally, she is the founder of Sports Law Chat, which is a Twitter chat dedicated to informed discussions on relevant topics of sports law.   Zovko has worked with the NBA's Seattle Supersonics/Oklahoma City Thunder, the WNBA's Seattle Storm and the University of Miami athletics compliance office. In addition, she has traveled abroad as a teaching assistant for international sports law programs in Florence, Italy; Lausanne, Switzerland; and London, England during the 2012 London Olympic Games.   Zovko serves as a board member of Sports Leadership. She is an active member of the Sports Lawyers Association. She received a B.A. in business administration and a mathematics minor from Pacific Lutheran University, where she played collegiate basketball, and a J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law. A native of Seattle, Zovko is licensed to practice law in Florida. .
