Episode 497: "Origin" and "I.S.S."

from Spoilerpiece Theatre

Thanks for patience with the delay in posting the show this morning. This week Megan and Dave talk about ORIGIN (2:51), director and screenwriter Ava DuVernay's adaptation of Isabel Wilkerson's book Caste, starring Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor as Wilkerson, Jon Bernthal as Wilkerson's husband Brett, and Niecy Nash-Betts as Wilkerson's cousin and best friend Marion. All three of us watched I.S.S. (21:32), starring Ariana DeBose and Chris Messina, in a tale as old as time: The United States and Russia are at war, so the astronauts and cosmonauts on the international space station in Earth's orbit are instructed to take the structure in the name of their respective nations by any means necessary. Ah, science! And over on Patreon, we talk THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN, the 1971 film based on Michael Crichton's novel. If you're not a Patreon member, you can become one and get access to nearly 400 bonus episodes for $5 a month, and access to monthly polls.

Explicit The Tino Orsini Show Agostino Orsini An entertaining chat show about the arts in London with special guests and film/theatre reviews and news. Explicit Breaking a Leg Oliver Double On 6th December 2015 at 7.30pm at the Gulbenkian Theatre Canterbury, I'm going to be performing a brand new full-length stand-up comedy show called Break a Leg, about the experiences I've had this year recovering from a broken femur. There'll be no previews, so I'll be finding out whether the material works at the same time as the audience does. If I crash and burn, it'll be a long night for everybody. I thought it might be quite interesting to make a podcast about the process I'm going through to make the show while I'm doing it. The podcast will conclude with recordings of the actual show. What will that be like? Nobody knows! Maybe there'll even be a twist ending. If you want to come and see the show live, you can get tickets here: http://www.thegulbenkian.co.uk/events/theatre/2015/December/2015-12-06-oliver-double.html Explicit
