Derek began his career in Gooding County as a detention deputy and eventually went to patrol where he worked general patrol duties for a year and a half and then transferred to detectives. As a detective, Derek worked on general felony enforcement cases such as violent crimes against persons, sex crimes, crimes against children, and homicide.
