Episode 5: Living with Paralysis and ALS with Jonathan Penner and Stacy Title

from Kids Pod · host Aimee Chan

Welcome to Kids Pod, a podcast where kids get to ask adults the questions they really want to know. Nothing is too rude to ask. You send in the questions and our adults will give kids the answers they want to hear. Imagine what life would be like if you couldn't move. How would it feel if you couldn't talk or walk or even breathe without a machine? This is every day life for Stacy Title. Stacy lives with ALS. This is a disease sometimes also know as Lou Gehrig's disease. Stacy wasn't born with ALS so living this way is something she has had to learn. Jonathan Penner is Stacy's husband and her main carer. He is going to talk to us today about what life is like when you are paralysed. We wanted to give Stacy a chance to speak in this podcast too, so that you can hear how patient she and Jonathan have to be. When we get to this section you might have to be a bit patient too as it can be hard for Stacy to communicate. You can read more about Stacy and Jonathan's story at stacyandjonathan.com. If you would like to donate some money to help other families living with ALS, you can do so at als.org/survivor. Kids Pod was created by Aimee Chan. Intro by Niki Strauss. Cover art by Glen Strauss. Narration by Mabelle Strauss. Special thanks to Stacy Title, Jonathan Penner, Oscar, Abi, Ryan, Nessa and Harry. To send us your questions for future episodes, contact us at aimeechan.com. We also ask that you please subscribe so you don't miss any future episodes of Kids Pod. And to help other people to find us and spread the word, we would love it if you would give Kids Pod a 5 star rating and share our link with your friends. Thanks for listening.
