Episode 5: Social responsibility, ethics and motivation

from Uddering Engineers · host Uddering Engineers

We are incredibly excited to welcome our good friend Shanleigh McKeown to the podcast. Shanleigh is a 4th year environmental engineering student with a minor in moral philosophy and profession communications from the University of Saskatchewan and the incoming president of the Canadian Federation of Engineering Students. In this episode, we start by chatting about how ethics may not be adequately represented during engineering education. Then, we discuss the social responsibility of engineers, and how we shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that many people pursue engineering to help others and make the world a better place. We wrap up our conversation with how, as part of minority groups, to keep motivated and stay passionate about engineering throughout our university careers.
