Episode #51: Delete + Reset: Body Image, Weight, Jean Size, and Jesus

from Grace In Real Life podcast · host Jill E. McCormick, writer + speaker

In this interview, wife, mom, author, and artist Jami Amerine and I tackle a topic that has been a struggle for me and so many other women our weight, body image, and jean size. We want to know where Jesus fits in as we honor and care for ourselves.  Through the Delete + Reset series, we'll talk about mindsets we need to delete because they don't serve us well (and in most cases aren't even right) and then we reset our brains with the truth.  In this interview, Jami, who loves lipstick and says casseroles are her love language, talks about true, godly wellness. And y'all, talking about wellness is like peeling an onion, there is so much more to it than just calories, working out, and preparing for beach trips with our kids.  We talk about what's going on when you feel elated when you meet your weight loss goal and devastated when you don't, wow to move away from legalism and toward grace, even when you love checklists, and how to determine what's for you and what's not for you. The topics of weight loss and wellness are trendy every January, but these areas are, and have been, a very real struggle for me.   I'm guessing you have set a weight-loss or eat-better or get-in-shape or be-healthier goal this year or you have in the past. This podcast will be a delightfully refreshing take on wellness, hope, and the grace God so lavishly showers upon us. Listen in! Key Quotes " I am fully loved. I am fully adored. God is crazy about me." - Jami Amerine "Think about what you want to do as an outpouring, instead of what you "should" or feel indebted to do." - Jami Amerine "What grace does is it allows you to just be in love." - Jami Amerine "Believe that you are being loved, that you are being taken care of." - Jami Amerine "If we have one solution all the time, one size fits all, all the time for wellness, what parts of us are then left unwell because we weren't cared for as individual daughters of the Most High?" - Jami Amerine "To not be cared for, to not be loved, to not be adored, to not be cherished, to not be seen and heard and known, that would be the opposite of wellness." - Jami Amerine "Everything we need for wellness is in us because Christ is in us." - Jami Amerine "You are totally and perfectly loved, and that makes your choices so much clearer." - Jami Amerine "Partner with this God, whose ways are perfect and who is crazy about you, to change the world, because He did it first, not because you have to." - Jami Amerine Mentioned in the Podcast The FCC requires that I tell you that I'm an Amazon Affiliate, which means I earn a bit of commission on each sale.
