In this excellent episode, Nancy and Jose are joined in the studio by Don Wells, the CEO of Just in Time For Foster Youth. Don is a remarkable person who has had remarkable careers in many fields from teaching to marketing to journalism and now non-profits. But, what has stayed true for him and driven him is his life purpose of making a positive impact in the lives of others.Just in Time For Foster Youth is a local non-profit organization that serves people ages 18-26 who were in the foster care system at any point during their childhood in any city for any length of time. Don likens the struggles of youth aging out of the system to trying to fly an airplane while building it. Just in Time helps young people by providing resources, creating a connection to the community, and creating a larger support system.Just in Time also tries to hire foster youth into their organization as employees as they can, through their experiences in the system, provide a unique perspective on what is needed and what programs can be used to fill gaps in the system.An excellent episode on filling gaps in the community with Don Wells.
