Episode 51 | InstaTherapy
from Psych Talk · host Dr. Jessica Rabon
In today's episode of Psych Talk I discuss InstaTherapy. InstaTherapy has multiple definitions. From the consumer side, it can refer to people using Instagram or other social media platforms as a form of therapy by following licensed mental heath professionals. On the creator side, it can refer to individuals providing mental health content online as an alternative to therapy. For the purpose of this episode I focused on licensed mental heath professionals using social media to provide therapeutic-related content, as I hope to make an episode on influencers on social media in the future. In this episode, I discuss the benefits of therapists on social media providing therapeutic related content, as well as the risks of such. Additionally, as a therapist who has a presence on social media, I end the episode discussing some of my experiences and my overall view of mental health professionals using social media platforms for therapy-related content.
