Episode 51: Interventional Spine: Sparking the Spine to End Back Pain with Dr. Derek Buck and Joel Kirst, CNP
from Doc Talk with Monument Health
In this episode, Dr. Derek Buck and Joel Kirst, CNP, discuss basivertebral nerve ablation, a minimally invasive procedure that can provide relief from chronic low back pain. The basivertebral nerves are small nerves that run through the vertebral bodies, the bones that make up the spine. These nerves can become irritated or inflamed, which can lead to pain in the lower back. Basivertebral nerve ablation is a procedure that uses radiofrequency energy to destroy the basivertebral nerves, which can relieve the pain. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and takes about an hour. Patients typically go home the same day. Most patients experience immediate relief from their pain, and the results of the procedure can last for several years. Hosted on Acast.
