Episode 51 - SKC's worst performance of the year, Drew plays GM, and the USMNT win their Nations League Group.

from Home and Away - A Sporting KC Podcast · host Drew VanderPloeg and Cody Welton

Drew and Cody have a cathartic discussion about all the things that went wrong for SKC vs. Seattle last Saturday. It was a match rife with many of the problems we have highlighted for the past 12 months: Poor individual errors by veterans supposedly on the field because they aren't as prone to them, Poor effort by a team supposedly "Sporting Fit" and coached by someone that supposedly gets that effort from them, and Zero offensive ideas against a team playing Kelyn Rowe at left back. It was just a cornucopia of bad. We discuss how and why SKC got here and whether there is a way out other than just hoping the injured players can save the club when they get healthy. Tactical Corner is replaced by GM Corner this week. Drew gets into the details of the roster and salary cap situation for 2024, what the club's options are, the level of rebuild that could occur if the staff decides to do it, and whether that likely or even advisable to give the current technical staff the responsibility to do. The USMNT won their last two Nations League matches, setting up a semifinal matchup with Mexico this June in Las Vegas. We spend a fair bit of time discussing Gio Reyna's creative capabilities, and how they will likely be key to the USMNT's success over the next few years. Finally, a quick preview of this weekend's match and the issue being that there is only one fullback available currently on the roster. Music by The Spin Wires
