Episode 51 - The Boys Season 2 Premiere

from Talkin' TV

Welcome back people, to yet another fantastic episode of the Talkin' TV podcast!!!! As you guys know, we have been covering a lot of TV on this channel. More than we ever thought we would. But we've got a special episode today, for a lot of different reasons. This episode harkens back to one of the first episodes we did when we started the podcast last year. For a show whose debut season last summer made both of our top 10 favorite TV shows of 2019 lists respectively. The show is constantly seeking to push the boundaries of what superhero media encompasses. We were worried we weren't getting it back this year like so many other shows who's dates were moved due to COVID. But then we got the news that this show actually finished its production before the quarantine occurred. And now it's back. And we're here to review it. This is our podcast covering the first three episodes of the sophomore effort of Amazon's The Boys.  Once again following rogue-CIA agent Billy Butcher as him & his titular Boys, comprised of Hughie Campbell, Frenchie, Mother's Milk & Kimiko aka the Female, contend with their superhero adversaries as well as being outlaws on the run now, along with a whole host of new threats! A new addition to the seven who might secretly be a resurrected Nazi experiment? Exploding heads! Exploding whales! Mushroom trips that involve talking gills? It's all apart of the fun and the insanity of this show, and it's only some of the many topics covered by Dom & Chris in this episode. But besides all the insanity, they also talked about what's to come in the remaining 5 episodes of the show, as well as what it represents for the superhero landscape and just the world in general, as this show covers a variety of different themes, from the #metoo culture to god complexes to pressure within the athletic leagues to PTSD and a whole host of other things.  It's all covered here, only on Talkin' TV!!!
