Episode 51 - The Fourth Turning

from Stumbling Through Enlightenment Hosted by Enlightenment Stumble

Our Check-In this week centers around Lorri’s loss of her aunt. The loss of any family member is tragic and brings up memories, analyzing of the lessons we learned from the person, and sometimes questions and assessment. With the passing of her aunt, Lorri finds herself not only in grief but also realizing that her generation is now the oldest generation. Jason shares his experiences of the same realization. Together we discuss this along with some of the other memories and feelings that Lorri is going through. Our Deep Dive this week, is all about the book “The Fourth Turning” by William Strauss and Neil Howe. The book, which is introduced to us by Jason, talks about viewing time and history as cyclical rather than linear time. Through this, they have been able to find patterns that not only explain what is going on today but also how we got here. Lead by four Archetype generations, the book goes through each cycle, each lasting between 80 and 100 years, and gives examples from world history and US history. In this week’s Off The Rails, we delve into some really strange sex laws. Join us on the humorous adventure across the United States and some bizarre laws around sex. From public fornication of animals to outlawing sex toys.
