Episode 52: 1 John #14 - Two "Knows" to Know 2:3-6

The word "know" is used 37 times in 1 John. But there are two Greek words that our English translates "know". Some commentaries say that John is using them as synonyms and do not put much stock in the subtle difference between the two words. I believe in most cases John is making a distinction but even if he isn't the overall goal is the same. He wants us to "know" we have eternal life. He wants us to be certain while living in an uncertain world. He wants us to know the Lord Jesus and know that we are "in Him". And he wants our knowledge to be based in rock solid evidence. All throughout 1 John we will see this.
