And one of my freaking goals for 2019 or for 2020 was to record or edit less. This makes me feel like I need to edit more. You know? Yeah.

But anyways, welcome back to Talking Nonsense. I'm your host Colin. I'm here with Christopher. And today our topic is...

Taxes. Nice. Exactly. No, it's not taxes.

As you guys can tell by the title, we're talking about books. And this was actually a topic, sorry, I keep playing, I keep playing, which is actually a topic brought up by one of our followers. I know his Instagram name, give me a second here. He suggested this topic a long long time ago.

Which never really got around to doing it because we're so busy. But it's actually one of your friends, Chris, who follows us on Instagram. Okay. Who?

Yeah. What is his Instagram name? Oh, is it? At...

Is it? Oh, yes. Red Ramos. At Barack...

Label? Lobel? Yeah. Yeah.

Shout out to you for giving us a topic. He suggested this a while back when we were asking for any topics that people wanted us to talk about. So here you go. A whole decade later.

No, not a decade. But do you even like to read? Chris? Yeah.

I mean, I think that's fairly obvious for anyone who's like followed our podcast for a while. They don't have, like, because I'm not a writer per se, but I do like to write. And I think that just goes hand in hand with reading too though, obviously. Right.

Because you probably gain inspiration from a few books you've read or a few writers. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. And then, you know, just like...

To be honest, I never really liked... Not that I didn't like reading. I just found it to be, I guess tedious in a sense. Because, you know, you're sitting in one location wherever you're at and you're just glued to this book that you're reading.

And it's like page after page and just keeps going and going and going. And maybe it's just because for me, I like watching things rather than having to read it. Like, you know, I look, a picture's worth a thousand words, right? But inside joke between us.

But anyways, yeah, I always just liked watching things rather than reading about it. So whenever I would read, especially in high school, you're always assigned books to read for English class. I just, I never got into it. I was always like, do we have to read this?

But I mean, there are a few books that I did read in high school that I was like, ooh, I'm glad I read that. And like, one of them that comes off the top of my head is Lord of the Flies. Oh, that's a good book. That book is amazing.

And for those, yeah, I'll go ahead and fuck me up. That book what? That book, yeah. That's that's that's deep.

Yeah, go ahead. Yeah. For those of you that don't know what that book is, and if you don't know, you probably didn't have school in America. What I meant is like, you didn't go to school here in America.

Not that you didn't have an education. But it's like, like short little synopsis, basically a group of kids get stranded on an island, right? And then kind of like build a society set of rules and stuff amongst themselves. And it just turns into a whole shit show, basically.

Yeah. And it's like crazy because they're kids. They're little kids. They're like ranged from ages, like what, like eight to 13 or something, right?

Yeah, they're just like great school kids. Like definitely not should be on an island by themselves. Yeah. And I remember reading it just thinking like, well, this would, like for me, when I do read things, I think that's one of the things why I don't really like reading is because like, most of the time when you're in school, the stuff that you do read in school is like very factual stuff, you know?

Yeah. Yeah. One plus one is two or like chlorophyll is the thing that does whatever, you know, like that's like one of them. Like one of them is the powerhouse of the cell.

Yeah. And you keep in high school, right? Like stuff like that. And it's just to me, it's boring.

But when I read like Lord of the Flies and sometimes how I do read things is like, I mean I'm pretty sure everyone does this too. It's like, that's what makes it right or a good writer is if you can be able to picture it in your head exactly like what's going on. You know what I mean? Like seeing it as if you're watching it or as if you're there.

And that's what Lord of the Flies did for me. They're just like reading about like how like spoiler alert, but that one scene where the fat chubby kid like I can't remember. Yeah. Can't remember if you actually guys are does it, but like really pretty much kill them or try to kill them or whatever they talk about.

Yeah. Yeah. And these are kids guys, kids and they decided to do that shit. I'm just like, oh my God.

Like, no, like honestly that specific scene. I remember like my teacher, like when we were reading Lord of the Flies part like we would always do these like kind of like group discussions in the sense of like we'd have like long pieces of like just like paper and like she would hang up and she would hang up in the hallway. But like part of our like assignment was like after reading like the sign chapter for like Lord of the Flies, we'd have to write like discussion posts on the piece of paper. And then it was completely like anonymous, right?

Like you would just go out there and you just have to respond to like whoever like or whatever, right? And like I remember everyone in my classmates reacting to like piggy just like dying and just like it was just like it was one of those things that changed you guys person because like you said like the William Golding the way you wrote it, he did a really wonderful job of kind of elaborating or at least giving a glimpse of like you know, people like in their true nature, you know. So I mean, yeah, like that book is really good. But kind of going on the whole like factual thing too.

Like it is hard reading a book that's like either not factual, but something you're just not really like interested in. Like it was a slog for me to get through the scarlet letter. I don't know if you remember if you've ever read the song letter. No, without.

Sorry, you follow like a chick who basically like has I think it's set during the whole like Salem witch trials thing or like type period in America, but it's basically has a kid and no one knows who the dad is and basically she gets like shunned from like the village because like everyone thinks like, you know, she's basically like a whore or a slut or shit. Yeah, like that one was really hard for me to read just because like it's written in that whole like English kind of like style, you know. Yeah, honestly to be completely honest with you, I'm getting like my books mixed up or maybe not even my books, but like my facts mixed up. And when you said scarlet, I thought that was a and you're like, I think that was a book that was set during like the olden times or whatever.

I'm like, I thought the scottmett letter was World War II about a Jewish thing or whatever, but I'm totally wrong. What I'm thinking of is the movie easy a and she talks about it and I don't know why I might be getting mixed up again in that movie too, but like Chris won't she mention something about World War II, but probably not. I'm totally wrong. Anyways, that's all I was thinking about when you're saying start letter.

But yeah, no, I don't think I read that book. Another book though that I did read in high school or grade school. I don't remember what grade and was like really good to me because I just love like anything dog related, but where the red fur and gross have you ever read that book? Oh, no, I don't think I have heard of it.

That's such a good book. It's basically about this kid who like wants a dog or whatever, right? And like his parents were like, no, no, no, I think or something like that. And then he saves up to buy like two hound dogs that are hunting dogs.

And like it's just a story about him and those two hunting dogs that like he raised and they grew up to be like the best like hunting dogs ever and then spoiler like one of them dies because of a freak accident or not a freak accident like during their hunting trip. Like one of them gets hurt and like dies and the other one dies I think is of old age and it's just like so sad. That's heavy. No, it's such a good book though.

Was it is old yellow or book? Pretty sure it's a book. I don't know. Yeah, it's a novel.

Yeah, old yellow. Yeah. I don't think I've read that, but I know how it ends. Oh, I have never read it.

Is that a dog book too? Yeah, it's about a dog and I think they I think it ends with like. Is that the one where they kill the dog? Yeah, okay.

Yeah, it's not well. I know. I know. I don't know what happened because it's funny.

I'm just I like when it's inappropriate. I'm sorry. Yeah. Yeah, so like I guess my I had a question for you like why why do you like reading cuz you do you do seems to read a lot.

I know beforehand like when we'd go when we were able to go out fucking go made- you know, we would go to Barnes and Noble, and you would always like buy book or at least want to read a book and stuff like that. Yeah, like I said, to me, I'm not that much of a reader. I'm just like why are you like reading so much. Yeah.

I think for me, the reason why I like reading so much is one thankfully like I had a like English teacher in high school shout out to her. Mrs. Ford, Derengo High. Just out of the guy's head.

So many different things, English teacher. Derengo High, whatever. Las Vegas and Nevada. California.

No, not California. United States of America. But no, she, I really got into reading because of her in the sense of like she really wasn't, she made reading fun. It wasn't just like, okay, read the assigned chapter and point out like this and the other.

It was really like, like how did it make you feel like it? What do you think about this happening in the book? Like how would it be different if like the character did this instead of what actually happened and stuff. So it was really cool and like you know going through that and like not really having kind of like a set group of friends up until like my junior senior year.

Like you know like kind of just wait wait wait sorry go back. You mean to tell me you were a loner? I mean that's not surprising. I feel like I was just kidding.

I'm sorry. So books kind of took you out of reality and into a different world and made it better for you or what? No it just kind of it got me like I wasn't so I didn't realize it then but I didn't pretty sure I was anxious back then like it just it just calmed my mind down. I had something to focus on.

Yeah. Yeah. So I think that's why I do I do a lot now because I do get like anxious sometimes and like sitting down reading a book obviously like you just have to sit there and read it and focus on it. You know yeah.

You know it's it's funny that you mentioned that I think that's the other reason why I wasn't that much of a reader was because I was like the complete opposite of you. Like you say like reading helps you calm down because you know not say you're anxious or anything like that. But I think for me I always liked to just be on the move and be interactive that like reading did the complete opposite for me. Like I hated sitting there and having to read because I would just get so bored so easily and we want to do something else.

I'm just like yeah and you know probably a lot of you listening probably like Kyle that's ADHD. But no I don't have that. Anyways yeah so that's why it's like reading whenever we got assigned a book to read in high school like English class like not sad it has you hate it. Yeah well let me finish my sentence not to say that I didn't have good English teachers and not to necessarily say I hated English class or anything like that because I did love English class and I did have good English teachers.

I just when they do designated reading time and it's all quiet and everyone's reading the book that's what I hated. I'm just like this is boring. It's like I rather like I guess also too is the fact that when they kind of force you to read it like I rather read it at my own pace and on my own time rather than having to be forced to read it because then that's why I'm like distracted and like not focused really on the book. I'm just like I could be doing something else right now.

How heavy did you rely on sports notes? Actually not that heavily I would read the book. I just didn't like read it. Yeah I never really used the spark notes.

Yeah never actually. Yeah I see it like because I remember when I was sparking notes it's still relevant to students today. I'm pretty sure it is. I remember like when it was first like getting popular it's like I would just check the spark notes.

I would always read the spark notes and I feel like I'm missing a lot of detail here. So I would end up reading it anyway. Yeah yeah yeah. So it's like no point in reading.

Yeah I was like anyways what were we talking about books? No you didn't like how silent was. No we're talking about spark notes. Oh it's spark notes.

Yeah so I would end up reading the book again just because like I feel like spark notes didn't provide enough detail for me. Yeah for sure. And I'm kind of the same way too. At least now I like I noticed sometimes like I will go and for movies at least like I'll go read some reason movies or sometimes I'll even read the full synopsis right but then like as I'm reading it I'm like I should probably watch this.

I feel like I'm missing something. So like I'll watch I don't know watching the movie anyways but um so what kind of what like what kind of books are you into then like genre wise writing style wise yeah story wise I guess. So like obviously like I think well no no obviously I find it hard to read like nonfiction stuff like I don't know why I don't know why I find it missing all that stuff. That and like you know like whenever like not say like like when like presidents come out with their own books and stuff.

I don't know it just it seems like I don't know like I just I find it really it just doesn't interest me I guess. Although I do want to read a Barack Obama's book or whatever because he's probably like one of the few presidents I was really interested in but I really like reading fiction specifically like I really like magic magical realism or surrealism like like those themes anything other than that. Like magical he said magical surrealism no magical realism slash surrealism surrealism. So like what is that like what can you give us an example like what book.

So what comes to mind would probably be like anything by um like Herruki Murakami if you want like it so he's a Japanese author but one book I would like that like that he wrote would be 1Q84 that had that's like super deep with like the whole magical realism. I would have recommended though if you are gonna read them I would it's a pretty like thick novel to get through so like it can be a bit of a slog so I recommend a lighter novel by him like Norwegian wood but like magical realism is I don't know how to yeah because I guess maybe let me be worth the question or let me say my thinking because when you say magical realism what comes to mind to me is literally like wizards and magic and shit like that but I'm pretty sure that's not what you mean right no okay so like what just explain I guess that thick novel that writer you said like what is that novel about was like what's the what's the plot summary. I'm gonna give you too much details and it like it's just not gonna like well is it like about some dude trying to do something kind of save someone what you know so basically you follow a female protagonist basically and it kind of the whole like Alice in Wonderland bit happens where you like she follows like the rabbit down the rabbit hole kind of and it kind of leads on to like this adventure so to speak so is it like different reality worlds like she's yeah okay so it's it's still like so it's set in Japan obviously but like so magical realism like basically but that is it's still set in like reality like as you and I know it but there still are some like like fantasy elements in there okay so just in layman's terms so for example like like dr. Strange how it's set in real-time New York but yeah there's wizards yeah okay basically I mean it's not so heavy-handed on the wizard bit right right I know but I just think so that's what you mean though yeah and so I mean like I like reading that only yeah no she's only like reading that for more comedy just because of his particular style the way he writes it in okay yeah but yeah so is that so is magical realism like his genre is like that is that his genre or is that just like the way he writes his stories like what is his genre because I don't know is it like a fantasy book is it not a fantasy book it's fantasy okay or or not fantasy it's a sorry I thought you said fiction I guess his genre would be like fiction but a lot of his like books do include themes of magical realism in it where it's like it it's almost like as if you're kind of going it's almost as if you've done acid and you're going on like a like a trip you know okay yeah got you yeah it's pretty good yeah I mean I'm bad at describing things as you guys you know no and you can tell but yeah he's one of my favorite authors but like other than that though too I also like reading like you know like classical literature book like I like reading Ernest Hemingway you know I don't know who that is you're gonna have to dumb it down for me for whom the bells toll no keep dumb in the down the Sun also raises just tell me who he is and like what he writes he's an American novelist he like he's just like what kind of stories does he tell are they fiction nonfiction fiction but it's like so from the Bell soul was written during World War one like he wrote during I don't know if he wrote it during World War one but it's set in World War one you know it's so it's just kind of it's like I guess to equate it to like kind of a like a movie thing it's like kind of slice of life maybe would be the closest thing mmm-hmm so he write like his his writings are like stories of like certain time periods yeah okay yeah so like let's say for example it's set in World War One but this is the story about a guy and World War One yeah basically at least yeah that's basically like in layman's yeah in layman's but um it's me because you're big on movies obviously how do you feel about like book to movie adaptations because I personally don't like them right the most part just because it either takes too much out of the book like they changed to like or not enough of the book is included or like it just it's just not or they kind of match everything in too soon yeah yeah yeah it's it's hard there's there's a lot of like for me okay so for example Harry Potter series I've never read the books the movies are I like I like the movies I never read the books I couldn't tell you on that if that was a good adaptation or not ready player one I read the book and watch the movie I read the book first I will say the book is still better than the movie but the movie I do believe brought a lot of what ready player one in the book tried to describe and brought it into like reality for us to visually see and I think it a really good job at that they did change a lot of the stuff from the book in the movie but the changes I think they made weren't terrible I think it made sense I guess to change like it wasn't really missing much it will now me personally I don't think it was missing much from the book though I still did like the book better but the movie was still good too and then another one the Lord of the Rings series again never read any of the Lord of the Rings books I know those shits are like in long as hell but I also do think that Peter Jackson did a good job at spreading it out across all those ways you know rather than for example his other film and I'm only talking shit because that this is what I've seen in videos and other people talking shit about but mortal engines that movie that he made oh yeah I wanted to watch that yeah so according to other people and I felt this too because I again I've never read the book but what I could tell from the movie it did feel like a lot was missing and that's what they said a lot was missing or and they also kind of try to scrunch because mortal engines is a series and I guess they threw too much into the film too soon so it was like like it would have been better if it was a TV series because then they could lay it out longer and give more detail rather than shoving it into a two and a half hour film which you would think like two and a half hours that's plenty of time guys but it's hard to like tell a good story in that amount of time like especially when there's so much detail to tell you know yeah I've noticed that about like movies is like they like the longer they are typically they I feel like they're better at least the movie like the movie is like because I feel like in that amount of time while they don't fit in everything like they are at least typically from movies I've seen that are like two and a half hours long it flows well enough so that it progresses the story nicely yeah so like you do you feel like you're getting your feel of the of the story and I think that's why like novels better than short stories you know like short stories like there's nothing wrong with that but it's just like I feel like if I'm gonna release it down and read something I'd want to get my feel of it yeah that makes sense yeah so yeah so there's this I was a thing do you do you remember at least for my school in my area we always had like the scholastic book fair like I love you so from there like that's what I found reading fun just because of course at that age all the readings easy it's like mostly picture books or like fun cute little stories like short novels and one of my favorite series to read was the series of unfortunate events if you're at those oh man yeah I love that series I really love that series because the way who's author get I can see let me sneak it but I don't think it's is that actual name I thought that was just part of the title yeah I think that's part of the oh I don't know anyways the way he writes it though whoever the author is the way they read it is so good because it's not that it's like overly descriptive but it's just an easy read and it gets the point across quickly yeah I mean like they he tells you straight at the front of the beginning like this story is not good like hella bad shit happens and then he tells you all the bad shit that happens and he doesn't know way that's interesting it's like oh come on there's gotta be something good like you want to keep reading and find out is there something good out of this and speaking of like book to movie adaptations when they did the movie with Jim Carrey in it as a child watching it and knowing the book series I thought they did a pretty good job of it and it was really interesting and fun to watch others will say like I know it wasn't that good and then when they started doing the Netflix series I was like yeah they took it to a whole not a level with that because like I said when you do I think it's better to maybe make books and to TV series and so instead of films because they could spread it out longer and the yeah the Netflix series because I don't watch it is really good yeah did you ever finish the comic series by the way of a series of unfortunate bits I believe so there's not that many is that there's 13 yeah I think I finished all 13 yeah yeah it's what I've read it and I've never finished the series but like I've read it in parts or whatever but I do remember like reading it and yeah he whatever the author is does a really good job of just giving it to you like it kind of takes you on an adventure pretty easily yeah you know so it's not so heavy-handed yeah so like when it comes to reading and the books you like their style writing is it like first person like they here you are the character sort of it's like oh I went here and then I said this and or is it like third person like John went down the street and talked to Stephanie and said you know I mean yeah so and between the two styles which do you prefer I guess so to answer the first part of the question because I'm really referencing like your comic because he's like one of the few authors I really because I read like nine percent of his books so I mean I think a lot of his books are written in first person if I recall right but don't quote me on it as far as like you know perspective and like you know which style is better like I kind of prefer a first person perspective okay because I feel like it gives me a better insight into not only the author but into like the characters mindset and like I think that I don't like for to me that makes it a book more interesting is like seeing how the character thinks rather or at least reading about it you know for whatever reason I just find it easier to read personally yeah yeah yeah same I mean I've read both kind of styles like ready player one is the first person style I believe yeah you're literally the person he's saying like yeah I had to say about that stuff like that and then there's other book series that I'm reading I started the series like back in 2015 and I'm on the last book and the reason why it's taking me so long is because like I said I'm not really that avid of a reader but when I do get into a book I like read the whole thing through but just sometimes I lose track of time or I just forget and never finish it so I started 2015 into fantasy book I would say fantasy here written by this one author David danglish danglish or something like that oh yeah you recommended some of his books to me yeah and the series I was recently talking about is called seraphim it's set in a world where all of humanity lives on floating islands and there's like four different islands and they're all like four different kind of like tribes or nations I guess you could say and there's one island in the middle that kind of rules them all and they call it the center of the ones that kind of govern everything and then they have battles between each other to kind of decide certain aspects or I can't clearly remember why they fight but they fight and the way they fight is they fly in the air because they're all in floating islands so like they have these they have an army which is called the seraphim they're the people that fly in the air and then it's also cool about it is it brings in elements of like magic and stuff like that where or I guess not magic per se but like powers so they have like elements in the story that do certain things like there's a light element a fire element ice and so forth and they harness different powers and people who can harness those elements you know do certain things and the book follows these two set of siblings who one of them is a fire element like she's really good with fire and the other ones like a light element he's really good with like lights and stuff like that it's like so cool because the way he so in his story my whole point was he does it like third person view like he says the characters names and says like so and so did this and they went there and he said this about person and the differences between that too I think it also comes into handle like how the writer does it like for me with ready player one I liked that was first person because it did bring me into it and made me feel like I was that character and it made the easing the reading easier with the David guy a third person like it's sometimes hard to follow because I think when it is their person it's like okay wait which character am I on again like who who's this who's that but then he does it in a way like he's so descriptive and it's like when I'm reading his book I could see it in my head like I see it as a movie because it's so easy to read that and it's just it's such a good series and I do recommend it on there is three books the first one is called Skyborn second one is Shadow Born and then the third one is Fireborn I believe which is what I'm on and it's like so good because like there's other things about it that you find out why they're on floating islands and it's like crazy it gets even crazier and it's like oh shit that's dope yeah I'm not gonna spoil it but highly recommend it and then there's this other book series that I read a long time ago by this Russian author I'm not even gonna say his name I'm pretty sure I'm gonna butcher it but and they did do a movie adaptation of the series like a long time ago and I'm pretty sure you I don't know if you heard of it Nightwatch no no it sounds vaguely familiar but I can't I can't place it okay so it's a Russian author and like that's literally the name of the book it's Nightwatch the second one I believe is daywatch and the third one is Dawn watch and basically it's set in Russia obviously but it's set in like it's set in reality like normal you know Russia reality I don't know exactly what year because I don't remember when the books came out but basically you have people who live among regular normal humans but then there's some of them that are like shape shifters some of them that are vampires some of them that are like good scenes of the future and stuff like that and like basically like a long long time ago there was a war between the good and the bad and the war lasted like so fucking long that eventually the leader of the good and leader of the bad decided to end the war and call it truce and then they set up a system where the good people would watch the bad people at night and then the bad people watch the good people during the day to ensure that they were keeping with the truce and stuff like that so that's why it's called Nightwatch and daywatch and like it follows this guy who never even knew about this reality and then he finds out that he's he has powers and he's one of them and he joins like the nightwatch he joins the good people and then it like also dies into he has like a son who ends up joining the bad people so it's like it dies into that kind of story of like oh man like Sun vs.

Father kind of thing and it's like it's hella good it's so good it's pretty it's pretty deep yeah it sounds really good talk which is it's no it doesn't really get it all sounds like because you said this had a movie adaptation right yeah I think what you did tell me about this but I don't think I ever sit down and try to watch it the movie is it's it's not that it's hard to watch it is very fast paced and like if you don't know it's kind of like if you didn't really pay attention to the beginning like if you jumped into the movie was like watching it'd be like what the fuck is going on yeah but it's just because the story itself is so it's not even that hard to follow or understand but it's just like it's so just grand and it's a very very interesting idea sure sorry anyways but yeah so like I like so for me thanks for asking Chris the types of stories that I like as everyone here could probably tell is I like the fantasy action type but you know like stuff that like deals with powers or whatever and kind of also has a meaning with like society and social class and stuff like that because the Sarah from the Sarah from series kind of deals with that you know deals with like a government power who's in charge and like hiding things from them and stuff like that I always find those books interesting and like the whole day watch night watch thing it's like good versus evil and like them watching each other fighting the truth like stuff like that I'm very very interesting yeah no for sure I mean like I do I do like books like those I just I mean just for calling them though like a lot of the books that I do end up liking part like that at all so I mean you know it is teacher although you know yeah we all have different days so right exactly and then actually kind of going back a little bit how you said you don't really like fiction sorry not fiction nonfiction books you know there actually a few that I've read in high school that are pretty good and I do suggest if you want to try reading or not one of them's not a full-on like biography it kind of is but it's kind of not but it's basically it's called a beautiful boy and this is kind of bad that I'm suggesting books but I don't know who they're in my but basically beautiful boy is a book written by oh I hate it when they fucking make movies and that's all they show you like they don't show you the book like when it's based off of a thing to show you the movie because like oh you're talking about the movie like no talk about the fucking book book David chef so beautiful boys about it's a true story it's the authors about his son and himself and their addiction to drugs and I think okay I believe they're both drug addicts and it follows sort of the other's journey of trying to help his son while also you know staying clean himself and it's like so crazy because it's so super detailed like all the stuff that like they went through and everything is like so heart like heartbreaking and also like uplifting in a sense because you know they help each other out and it's just like it's really good book you should be that and another one that I read was actually this one was also a biography in a sense but not really no I think it wasn't biography it's about this football player who quit the NFL and decided to join the military I heard about this guy yeah Pat was named Pat was the guy he was the former football player who decided to join the army after 9-11 and his book I just had earlier to the book is called where man went glory the Odyssey of that's only yeah that one I read and that was really good too because even though it is kind of a biography the way it's written to me seems like a fiction book because it kind of follows a storyline and I found out to be really good and interesting so there's a few nonfiction books that you probably take a look into yeah no for sure I mean so like with nonfiction books I mean I know they contain lots of information I guess like the reason why I personally don't find them like the reason why I personally don't like reading them is again it's just kind of like it's like you said like kind of what you mentioned before they just look like textbooks to me you know like study material kind of like but you know I definitely will give those those two recommendations you gave I'll try to read those and see if I like them you know yeah yeah speaking about books and what not what are you trying to segue into what we want to talk about next yeah okay let me just say this Kirsten and I have been well I want to say we have been working on but we kind of haven't and kind of just started but it is something that we've been wanting to do one while we want our book and we do have an idea and it's I believe and I'm sure Kirsten has really do it's a pretty good idea and I think it'd be very interesting books right because it it deals with sort of the stuff that he and I both like and talked about in this episode it deals with like social class it's like a fantasy book you haven't quite figured out well I mean I don't know if you thought about it but like what how do you want to write it you run one first person third person yeah so I've tried writing third person it just feels weird for me writing in third person like saying Jacob ran down the road and saw me and said yeah okay so you said me I don't know how I'm gonna write it but I've written because you said me a prologue basically not of the book that the new one but you wanted to write a book before I believe you still do that's the one I wrote a prologue for you that was your idea this other one that we want to get was something that I came up with yeah so let's talk about yours first well what was your your idea and hold on before you say anything today's date is December 22nd 2020 all information being said right now is owned by us Christopher Ramirez and Jim Calic Nacio just so that nobody steals our ideas we have proof copyright copyright yeah but go ahead a lot of so mine was like I titled a journey of a wordsmith and I wanted to do so it's kind of like a fantasy kind of thing but it like I think the basic like plotline was like there was a world in which people couldn't they couldn't write anymore I think it was yeah or like there were no books or anything like that and like like I really wanted it just to be about like how an idea or like how a book can really like transform society or like be a powerful tool either for you know like either for good or for bad you know but like I never really took off in it I did yeah we're calling I did write a prologue for that or you sent me one for that and then I rewrote it yeah which was really good by the way I feel like you should get back into that but yeah yeah I don't you still have that right I'll have it anymore I believe I do summer in my email I'm pretty sure I have it but yeah so as Chris was saying his he came to me he talked about it he's like oh I have this idea for and like so here's the thing so it was you know I am a film guy I studied film for college and I love telling stories and writing scripts for films and every time and Chris he he likes to write four books he likes to write stories and stuff like that and actually there was another short story that he wrote since a long long time ago called Rocketman which oh yeah was really good and it kind of all this guy who takes on a one-way trip mission you know to space and basically kind of dives into at least when I read it how I portrayed it as it kind of dives into his feelings and emotions of being alone I guess yeah so I took it and I wrote it I adapted it into script form it's a short film that I do plan on shooting sometimes soon hopefully soon as COVID's all good and ready to be starring me as in the beginning but yeah it's a really good story I took it and flipped it kind of flipped it for film it still deals with a mission but there's a fun little twist at the end but this other one that he's talking about I'm turning to the wordsmith when he was telling about it as a film guy like I said and as I read you know I try to watch it in my head like whenever I'm reading something and trying to describe it and the wordsmith book that you had like I was like watching in my head so I wrote a little prologue for him and then he just he took that and like edited it and oh my god he made it like ten times better and I was just like dude this could be a book I keep telling him like he should write it so for those of you listening comment down below should Chris write this book yes or not but yes he should and then the other idea that we have was something that I do have your thing I just found it oh nice yeah maybe I should post this just a little prologue go for it I feel I feel that I think I'm okay with that you're right yeah it's really good I'm not posting anyways so this other idea that we have is sort of set in the future we're pretty much Earth's gone to shit all of like society had to move underground to survive because the land above is just unlivable right yeah like it's an unhappy unhapp it's or it's not longer habitable habitable thank you sorry and basically but they do sometimes go above ground to get resources and supplies even though they can't live on it they can still grab stuff and come back down and then it pretty much follows this guy who discovers that there's actually other people living above ground so the world is okay to live on and then it's pretty much gonna be a series where you know it's about social class government power all that stuff blah blah blah and like them trying to rise above get it nice kind of throwing that yeah but that one I'm really excited to start writing we have some characters backgrounds names and all that stuff and yeah we just have to we just have to put pen paper do get or finger finger to keyboard you know yeah it's it's one of those things where it's just like I guess it's because with reading right like I kind of mentioned it's like you just sit there and you read it it's so different when you sit there and you have to like produce it you know yeah it's really hard it is really hard because yeah so originally the this idea that we're talking about that is now gonna be booked I tried to write it as a film or maybe even a short series but then I was like you know what now this has to be something that probably should be a book first because there's just so many aspects that we can write about for it and that should be written for it and probably just be better spread out in a book because then you're more descriptive that way and then somebody could pick it up as a film maybe who knows but maybe I could just produce it anyways yeah so be on the lookout for that it's a it's a ten year plan long term plan you know for sure yeah you actually have one idea to you that I really want to like film but I also kind of I want to try my hand writing at what was the it wasn't the day job it was a day job it was like you're talking on the fog yeah the fog yeah like I can't want to try writing that one you know like but that was a really good idea that I would watch even as a short film like that would be good yeah that one okay so that one and rock and matter both fully written fully storyboarded all that stuff I just have to shoot it and then actually yeah I just shoot it and then so who's gonna play me can I play myself no audition for it right now read me read me here read me this line right now or is that gonna send me the line no I am hold on whoops that's not it sorry I get into too soon wait I can't fucking type there's a audition guys what if I make it big you know there you go that's your wife all right wait let me set up the seat so you just got home and your wife has discovered a letter talking about your mission and she's upset because you guys had both agreed that you would talk about it before you accepted it but you've already accepted it yeah and action okay oh they're hold on sorry let me I'm a director your character you're somebody who is you've already made this decision and you know wholeheartedly that it is this decision you need to make and there's nothing else you could do but you have to take on this mission okay to be fair like you can't see me right now but so yeah I'm just gonna have to imagine you have to deliver it for me to see it in my hand or in my hand my head so go so the so my characters are decided correct yes you've just got it home your wife has found the letter saying that you've accepted the mission and she's upset with you so she's like talking you right now and the line that I just sent you is your line that you have to say after she's done all her little spiel okay okay and like I said you are very determined you already know your decision and there's nothing else you could do about it except for you know saying that line ready okay right and action okay nope you're terrible next it's hard it's hard you're making me that alright come on whenever you're ready come on Chris come on come on I can't just alright hold on it's literally two lines guys technically one line right sorry one line six words all right oh my gosh this is actually really hard actors yeah it's not so easy here you go I'm sorry but I have to you know sorry I like it I'm just gonna give it give it to me with a you're delir with more empathy more more empathy yeah I'm sorry but I have to okay now give it to me with more still sympathetic but also it hurts you know okay I'm sorry but I have to do this whoo I don't know I know about you guys but calm down below should take that wrong yeah so yeah yeah yeah maybe I should be an actor no I'm just kidding but yeah no but yeah books books are read more books read more books there you go I do I do think I need to read more books though maybe just to help with my vocabulary good you know gain gain some knowledge on some new profound words that I can use when speaking with others instead of a typical yeah I'm good how you doing okay I'm okay I'm feeling Santa Dippitus no I don't know yeah yeah books books are powerful and they are a good tool so yeah you know yeah shout out again to our follower at Barack a little bell keep but drinking red to great name but for suggesting for suggesting the topic if you guys have any other topics you want us to talk about let us know and we will probably get to it in another decade or so in a year yeah within the year or within a year but thanks for listening I'm Kyle Christopher and I was talking on since follow us on Instagram I'm talking on since I'm score I'm probably gonna post Chris's lore prologue there for his his book and then maybe once we finally start writing our book we'll post that too I don't know we'll see yeah
