Episode #52: “Don’t stay stuck!” with Dr. Gabe Charbonneau and Denise Wiseman

from Stand Up for Doctors!

That is great advice on both an individual level, and a systems level! Dr. Gabe Charbonneau is a rural family physician, and the co-founder of Medicine Forward (MF). Denise Wiseman is co-founder of the Healthcare Reinvention Collaborative (HRC), inspiring others to “Make a Ruckus That Makes a Difference!” Join us for this thoughtful conversation, where Gabe shares how Medicine Forward was born out of physician frustration and distress, and the need to think in new ways about how we can actually create positive change. Denise adds that there have been discussions about transforming healthcare for decades, but the same thing keeps being done over and over again. Denise does a great job explaining the value of creating an impact network (a relational network with deep and wide connections), and Gabe comments that our conversation here and now is an excellent example of being in community with each other, building wider bridges of connection between change agents, and that we are actually doing the thing that we’re talking about, with the hope of inspiring others! We share that we need hope, and there is hope! Prescribe Hope is explained as an upcoming audio documentary, and in part a much-needed advocacy channel to expand mental health protections for healthcare workers. We talk about how building the right balance of infrastructure and innovation is critical for transformational change, the importance of re-building trust, and “slowing down to speed up!”
