Based on the study conducted by AARP and the National Alliance for Caregiving, they found that 43.5 million Americans provided unpaid care for a relative or friend during the prior 12-month period. That’s more than 13% of the population — a lot of caregivers. And numbers are growing. But how does it feel to become one? I have heard a lot of caregivers, especially taking care of their elders, felt totally alone. They were overwhelmed by emotions—anger, guilt, despair, sorrow, confusion, anxiety, then later on fell into a depression. Let us listen to Debbie Compton, who will share with us her experience of taking care her parents and how she was able to cope up with the obstacles and now have become a caregiver consultant and advocate.
