Episode 53 - The New Femininity: Redefining the Rules for Women & Fitness
from GET STACKED · host Bradley Schneller
A few years ago, New York’s Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology opened an exhibit that explored the evolution of the optimal “fashion body” from the nineteenth century all the way to today. Ultimately, it showed one thing: whether you’re using a corset, Spanx, or working out 5 days a week to "lift and tone", women should strive for a shape that’s not their own. So it should come as no surprise that our long-standing definition of femininity excludes women who opt to lift weights and incites fears of losing attractiveness and becoming too "masculine". Today on "With That Being Said" Bradley, Emily, and Sarah sat down to talk about the feminine body. From Emily and Sarah's own journey to re-define what being feminine means to them to why all women can benefit from lifting a little iron and more.
