Episode 54 - Carnage *Listener's Choice*
from In The Queue - Film Conversations with Andrew and Phil · host Andrew and Phil
Based on the Yasmina Reza play, "Carnage" is directed by Roman Polanski. The ensemble cast of four famous actors (Jodie Foster, John C. Reilly, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz) carries this cutting black comedy of manners. The events unfold in real time: two couples meet amicably to settle an argument between the sons of the respective parents. What seems like a resolution achieved soon into the film turns into a dark exploration of the human soul. At it's heart, the story is about the lure of winning. Everyone in the film wants to be the top dog and get the final word, whether it's through verbal or physical violence. And in the end, perhaps the adults are just as immature as their children. Bridget joins the discussion to offer her insight on "Carnage", one of her favorite films and her listener request for this episode.
