Episode 54: Great fall events #INElkhartCo you won't want to miss!

from People and Places along the Heritage Trail · host Elkhart County, Indiana

We're kicking off September with a jam-packed episode with great things to see and do as we get into fall in Elkhart County!   First, get ready for some fun in downtown Goshen for the September VOLKSfest First Friday!  Downtown Goshen’s groovy VolksFest packs an evening full of the things Goshen loves most: local “volks,” food and beer, downtown shopping, live music, family activities, and a showcase of area-owned VOLKSwagen Beetles and Buses! Plus, because the July First Friday event was rained out they are combining the September VW showcase with the Classic Car show from July, so there will be something for everyone!  We also chat about the 9th annual Arts on the Millrace, an annual juried event along the Millrace Canal starting at Powerhouse Park, featuring local artists.  Add in music, food, and drink to make this the perfect day to celebrate the region’s art and kid-friendly activities make this perfect for the whole family. Then gear up for the Nappanee Apple Festival!  This festival is home to Indiana's largest 7-foot baked apple pie and comes out of the oven just in time to kick off the festival!  With the festival attracting an average of more than 80,000 people annually, it has become one of the largest festivals in the state of  Indiana!  You'll learn more about the shopping, entertainment, rides and delicious apple pie! And you'll want to make plans to attend the Middlebury Fall Festival! Amish food, crafters, demonstrations and live entertainment happen in the downtown parks. Friday morning kicks off the fun with vendors, woodworkers and carvers plus kid-friendly activities.  Friday night features a Pork Chop fundraiser, a family-friendly movie and fireworks. Saturday highlights include a Sausage and Pancake fundraiser, jeep show, corn hole tournament, children’s activities, live entertainment and more.
