He was riding his donkey down the road, but suddenly the donkey stopped. Balaam couldn’t see it, but an angel of the Lord was standing right in front of them. The donkey saw the angel — Balaam didn’t.So the donkey turned off the road. Balaam got mad and hit the donkey to make it move forward. This happened again and again until finally — and here’s the amazing part — God opened the donkey’s mouth, and the donkey actually talked! It said, “Why are you hitting me? Haven’t I been a good donkey to you all these years?”That’s when Balaam realized God was trying to get his attention.Sometimes, we’re just like Balaam — rushing ahead with our own plans and missing what God is trying to say.
