Episode 56

A wild trip into some insane shark-infested waters. Fish Fantasy 42... I mean, uh, 56... delivers some of the longest tunes we could think of peppered with such superb local artists such as San Francisco's "Entrance Band", "Smokin' Joe Haines" (of the Glorious Chavs and the LoveMuffins) with his amazing ode to manic depression "Isotopes" and the incredible first track from the stellar self-released EP by EndAnd. We've got long tunes by Accept, Tool, Metallica's King Diamond cover and the Epic "ballad of the skeletons" a 1997 soundtrack to a geo-political short film/song/poem by Allen Ginsberg with (Patti Smith alumnus) Lenny Kaye, Philip Glass & Paul McCartney. This episode also features Satya Sai Maitreya Kali - the 1970 Soundtrack from Yosemite, dedicated to Jimi Hendrix and conjured up in his spirit, and the 23 minute Atom Heart Mother suite (from the same year) by the Pink Floyd. You know, the one with the cow on it. Atom Heart Mother was the first Pink Floyd album to be specially mixed for 4-channel quadraphonic sound as well as conventional 2-channel stereo. The SQ quadraphonic mix was released on LP in a matrix format compatible with standard stereo record players. There was also a release of the quadraphonic version in the UK in fully discrete 4-channel form on the "Quad-8" format, a 4-channel variant of the stereo 8-track tape cartridge. All this and MUCH MUCH more on Fish Fantasy Episode 42- I mean, 56. (Lawrence Taylor's old jersey number :).
