AM Radio was a crucial media outlet for Artists to gain exposure and commercial success. 45 rpm. singles were very important to attract attention to an Artist's album or film. Then in the late 60's FM radio was coming to prominence and albums were becoming more important to listeners. AM radio remained important but after The Beatles success American bands stepped up their game and started to release more interesting sounding singles.
