Episode 56: The Dark Knight - Mamma Mia! - Space Chimps: July 18, 2008

Some men just want to watch the world burn, and some just want to listen to Pierce Brosnan and Meryl Streep sing Abba!It’s July 18, 2008 and the boys are zipping up their sequin jumpsuits, donning their masks and taking a chance on THE DARK KNIGHT, MAMMA MIA!, and SPACE CHIMPS. Episode 56 of Opening Weekend is the podcast Gotham deserves!“Mamma Mia, here I go again. Batman, how can I resist you? Mamma Mia, Space Chimps blow again. Why, why? Joker, can I kiss you?” In July of 2008, while Christian Bale’s Dark Knight was learning how to deal with an agent of chaos smeared in white face-paint, new daddy, Fred, was learning how to deal with an agent of chaos smeared in white butt-cream.  And just as Jason and Dan were putting down their artistic roots in the most unlikely of places, the entire cast of “Mamma Mia!” were letting out their artistic “toots” in all of our faces.  And by “toots” we mean “farts.”  And by “farts” we mean “Pierce Brosnan’s singing voice.” SOS indeed. And no, that’s not the state-of-the-art 1985 animation stylings of a Dire Straits video, it’s the 1983 state-of-the art animation stylings of “Space Chimps!” All this and so much more on Episode 56 of Opening Weekend!
