Episode 58 - Chronic Illness advocacy and what need to be improved in the medical system with Writer and disability advocate Jess
from Crohn's and Autism Awareness Advocate · host Mason Milne
Jess is a 27 year old Australian who recently re-located to Belgium. After spending two decades in diagnostic limbo, she was diagnosed with Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder, and eventually Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome - a family of Hereditary Connective Tissue Disorders (HCTD). She is currently navigating an extensive treatment program in her new home abroad, whilst engaging in activism for invisible disabilities such as her own. She is passionate about using her website www.delicatelittlepetal.com to help other people avoid the same cycle of shame and isolation that she went through while undiagnosed, and advocates for the normalisation of mobility aids. She is also a Healp.Co ambassador; a social network and crowdsourcing platform for people with chronic health conditions.
