Episode 59: Theology and Abuse

from Faith and Feminism

Is there a tie between some Christian Theology and abuse? I have started to theorize that this may be the case. That when the church teaches a doctrine that tells women to submit (at times to abuse,) that women's bodies are dangerous, and tells them that they are not qualified to teach or lead—that this may lead to dangerous power differentials. Today on the podcast Kristen Dumez, professor of history and gender studies at Calvin University, answers my question.
